    Matt paint

    Right,
I'm considering a paint job and was thinking of matt battleship grey.

As you can't laquer it, how do you protect the paint from the elements?

Finally, as its matt, is it worth getting done professionally or should I just do it myself?

Any advice would be much appreciated

Yea i'd go for satin over matt.
It looks far better and seems to be more resillient to the elements as well.

I had matt black on my S13, and it was a nightmare to keep looking tidy.

You could do it yourself but preperation is key and take your time

It does look good in satin and gloss

I dunno whether to do it or not. The car has always been function over form, but now it's got good chassis/brakes/power, I thought about making it look a bit better. I was considering getting Chargespeed overfenders, wings and maybe bodykit.

If I do it will probably cost the same to have it sprayed any colour rather than Emerald Green!

dave i recon if you kitted your car tastefully and had it done original green itd look awsome mate, theres hardly any kitted green 14a's about (i may be wrong, cue quail) but do it properly and put some massively wide rims on it (in bronze/gold) and itd look fekkin awsome and original

Back to my original question, how do you keep satin or matt paint looking good?

Don't panic Jon, I might keep it green! Just fancy something different. Mind you, sounds like there's gonna be a lot of battleship grey SX's about going by this thread! I thinking some nice 12j's on the back as well

My advice would be don't do it. Only because I know the hassle I had taking Satin paint off my car! I hated not being able to have the car looking clean as the Matt/Satin finish always looked rubbish.
