    Front bumper quick removal?

    Hey,

I have taken off my front bumper so I can jack up the fron, the thing is is such a pain in the neck, I had to undo the arch liner to get to the bolts that attach it to the wings. This is the first time I've undone these, is there something i can do which'll make the whole removing bumper process quick and easy?

taking the bumper off is pretty much the only way I wanna jack up the car.

    Cheer people!

Drive it onto a couple of bricks and then jack it up if it's too low otherwise.

Surely that'd be the quick way of fixing it back on?

Tie rope from tree to bumper, reverse

You can now buy some lower trolley jacks designed for lowered cars. They're not too expensive. Places like Machine Mart and Halfrauds sell them. They look very handy too me

You can basically just get away with securing the top 2 points of the front to the slam panel, and then choosing probably 2 holes either side of the rear of the wings (that you can reach easily) just use normal bolts, and put some locking washers and butterfly (wing)nuts on the end... well, it's 1 way anyway.

The front-end panel IIRC (a vague version of what i've learned maybe) actually only needs to be secured to the car in a way that it is sufficiently attached to the front so that it can't flap about much, or fall off or anything silly... as it's only designed to withstand 12mph (i think) bumps, and it's the main bumper bar which would stop a big hit... so you can use almost any kind of quick release bolts etc, as long as theyre fitted properly... I think.

My car isn't very low but low, I went to the local wood-shop and asked them if I could have a look in their bin and found 50 boards of linolium that were just thrown away, picked them up and drive the car on them before using the jack to get under the radiator support (with a rubber and towel underneath to not damage the steel).

Jacking on X-member is not advised (Vova's is clearly made of better stuff than many that have appeared in here over the past few years), should jack on subframe.

I have a 25 year old jack so it's not low profile. I use service jack under one chassis rail to get height.

True, some radiator-supports (or X-memebers?) are quite rusty and not in good nick, mine however is. I'd go for the subframe or diff if possible to be 100% sure however sometimes its just not reachable. I used to jack the car out of the springs under the front towing eye and put a jackstand under the TC-bush to gain acces to the subframe with the jack again...bad idea, the TC bush started leaking from the pressure, not doing that no-mo' .
