I tell you what, I'm getting proper p****d off with people calling then hanging up. All London numbers.

Presumably checking to see if I'm a trader or not, they could at least ask!

One woman did : "are you a trader", "no", CLICK, brrr.

I'm sure I see this car now and then on the way to work...

Do you usually pass through Scarcroft or go down the A64?

Either way, very naice, free bump.

Well, she got a thorough cleaning this weekend, ready for a viewing on Sunday.

First step, emptied the entire car of my possesions, just in case. Then :

    • Full wash, clay, polish (SR1) and wax (Nattys Blue).
    • De-greased and cleaned engine bay.
    • Cleaned the alloys up with some alloy cleaner
    • Blacked & shined the tyres (including the spare)
    • Blacked the rear bumper trim and front splitter
    • Hand polished the exhaust to a chome finish
    • Hoovered every last nook and cranny.
    • Shampooed the boot carpet and all 4 floor mats.
    • Back-to-blacked every bit of interior
    • Polished all the glass inside and out.

Started Saturday at 10am, finished Sunday at 4:00. Missed the F1, but kept telling myself it's worth it to get the car sold.

An hour after the guy is due, and no phone call, so I decide to have a surf on the forum while I'm waiting.

If only I'd checked the forum beforehand, got a PM to say he can't make it.

So, she's all dolled up with no place to go

I was a bit POd at the time, but I can laugh now. Next time, must check the forum even if I have handed over my phone number

A good question! It's a 100% English car, except for the plate!

That was put on by the original owner as a cherished plate. I was going to put my own plate on, but as we nick-named her "Taz" from day 1, I decided to keep her name plaque where it is

I'm not sure what the original meaning is, maybe 5th May 1997? I like to think that's her birthday

Yeah, I did think that at the time, but I didn't think there was time to take any pics...but there was, as it turns out...ANYWAY! I'll get some as soon as it stops raining!

And you can keep your dirty hands off my spoiler too

As a side note, there's always been a little bit of corrosion on the door handles,

I think it lets the car down, so I've bought 2 more handles this week and will be fitting them this weekend (see Petrol's post for a how-to).

All my workmates now think I'm mad, but to me things like that make a difference.

Nothing but the best for my baby

    Last ditch attempt

    I'll slash off £500

    £3995 or near offer.

If it doesn't go for that, I'm keeping her :P

Interested but isn't 4k a little steep for a car that has done 150000 miles?

Maybe you can buy her an insure her in 12 month time?

I don't know if you saw above, but I'm sorting out the door handles, and the wiperarms have been resprayed too. They were the only things letting the car down. She really is looking perfect now So tempting to keep her. Stuff the fuel bills!

Maybe. But bear in mind that I got the car at around 84,000 miles and almost every single mile I have put on since has been just pootling up and down the motorway. She's not had a hard life and get's the fully synth oil changed every 7500 miles

If you want to make me an offer, drop me a PM

If you view the car, you'll see why I value her so highly. She's immaculate

I revisited the concept of keeping Taz and doing a LPG conversion etc. to make it more viable for me. But I still can't justify the cost. So she's staying up for sale, and I in fact discovered that if I buy an Aygo, the saving in petrol would actually pay for the car loan.

So I ordered a Aygo on Sunday (Mrs Smoothound was so impressed she ordered one too!)

    What credit crunch?

I should be picking up the Aygos this weekend. So Taz will be gettting a final seal and wax before going into the garage. After that, she'll only come out briefly at the weekend, just to keep everything lubed and running.

I do need the space in the garage though. So, she really must go! If anyone wants to make an offer, feel free, what's the worst that can happen?
