    RB Nightrider Project

The car: J plated stage 1 s13 trailored from Birmingham no MOT or Tax due to some typical s13 welding(inner and outer chassis rails),replacing rear calipers and a blowy exhaust..

Here is the welding that needed doing
    Before

    You can see through it

    After

After all the welding, rear calipers and exhaust had been done it was ready for the MOT Dal took it 300 yds down the road and the turbo when. A week later the replacement turbo arrived (less said about that the better) Dal fitted this ready for MOT next day but the car sounded very ropey and still very smoking with more investigation found it was the rings so car still didn't have MOT. So this was decision time Spend more money on it or bite the bullet and lay out for the RB conversion but in the long run it would be worth it's a hard choice NOT..

This is how the engine came been outside for a bit for sure as you can see

    mmm turbo snot

seriously though the front housing was half full of rain water
    and then.......

head was off in no time doesn't look too bad in there really, bit of oily wetness on pistons but nothing to worry about with new rings on the way

stripped the block right down for cleaning

Gave the bores a quick blast with the stones

Gave it a thuror cleaning and a good couple of coats of smooth black cleaned all gasket faces and she came up a treat

Got the head back from skimming, all valves were lapped in by hand not cheating with a drill

    errrrr

    arr thats better

Half a day later we have 6 clean pistons ready for rings well they would be if they didnt send me the wrong ones still waiting for them next week is looking good

Got the crank in and torqued down with ACL racing ends
