    2871 lag

Im wondering what sort of lag is there on the .64 AR 2871r and when does it start to spool.

What sort of setup and pressure are you running to get it to spool when it does?

    Thanks.

    thanks mate.

Would this be the same for all 2871's or what would it depend on?

When does a T28r start to spool and when does it hit full boost. I have one but the car is off the road with the last year so i can't remember but just want to compare what it a 2871r would be like to a 28r spool and lag wise.

T28R spools much quicker, it's pretty close to std as it's basicly a S14 T28 with BB cartridge, I think

I have a 2871R .64 aswell and I have the same figures to give you as Als_S13. Starts to push positive boost at just under 3k rpm and hits full boost at around 4.5k. I'm happy with my turbo, and personally wouldn't go any bigger

I defo won't be going any bigger. Just tring to work out if it's going to be too laggy for my liking and as a road car atm.

I know the 28r will start to spool much earlier but i can't remember when it starts to spool and when it hit's full boost to compare it to the 2871r to work out what it would be like.

    Regards.

GT28R .64AR would start to spool (make zero pressure) at about 2000-2200rpm, hit full boost at about 3500rpm...BTW, thats spool up figure for my T3 super60 trim...

Can you please explain to me whats the difference between 60,56 and 52 trim compressor and what difference does it make?

Whats the best trim compressor and AR for quick responce and less lag on a CA? I pressume you would lose out at top end though but i don't mind that.

    Regards.

The trim of a compressor or turbine wheel describes the relationship shared by the inducer & exducer. Trim = [(minor/major)^2]*100

Generally speaking, the larger the trim the more air that particular wheel can flow.

2871R is laggy for a road car, with 256 cams mine needed to be kept above 4200rpm, which is easy on track, it was on full boost about 4000rpm on the road, little later on the dyno.

    See my power graphs

also with the t28h, its good for fuel economy because your not on the turbo that much at low revs.

GT2871R has almost 0 lag when you run 160km/h or faster

The car is used everyday but i do some drift and track days too. Im thinking of the 2871 more for the drift and track if its not too laggy for everyday use as well. I was thinking of 256 cams also. Maybe 256 inlet and stock exhaust cam.

How did they effect the performance of your car throughout the rev range when you used the poncams with the 2871. Did they lose any middle for more top end or where did you see gains?

    Regards.

Do you have to rotate the core of a 2871 like the T28 when fitting to a CA?

No the GT2871R is fine, you'll struggle to bottom mount a GT2876 without modifications.
