There is no part of making 500bhp with an SR20 that is easy. I think people lose sight of what an achievement it really is. Remember that 500bhp over here in the UK is something quite different to our American friends.

I wont discuss the finer points and details of Dan's build, but there is certainly ALOT more involved than simply buying a big turbo and a wild set of cams.

Whats your view on the madTech figures, and the figures in general (appreciating that some of these have huge turbos and must be big power..) that come out of the scandanavian countries, in terms of direct comparability with uk figures (your own dynodynamic figures in particular) ?
have you ever seen any comparative measure (something to gauge by etc...)

I know there is ALOT more involed ive paid the bill for it. lol
Im just intrigued to see how far an sr block can be pushed without upgrading liners. Ive just started working for a company called East Coast Customs, so when i get my remap i wana put it on the rolling road and see what i can get out of it, and then in few months il be fitting my new head and now a set of 272exhuast and 264inlet cams etc and see what the difference is, want as much power as possible with out going for liners.

Talking of cams, this is insteresting from the Madtech infomation site...

    http://www.madtech.se/facts.asp?act=2

OEM Aluminumheadtopp with stock valves (34mm in / 30mm ut) Modified Greddy 1,2mm steel headgasket. Custom grinded camshafts according to Dr. Ernie´s calculations at DTE Racing. 10,8mm lift (in/out), 238 degree in/ 230 degree out at 0,05" lift, lobeseparation 114 degree.
not sure what that translates to at zero lift.

Yup - a real* 500bhp is very difficult to get reliably and with a wide power band.

    * and by real I'm basing it on dyno dynamics figures as that what I'm used to. The difference between dynos / rolling roads seems to be huge - especially at high power.

Similar to the cams I'm using on my SR
Should be putting it back together over the next couple of weeks - the cyl head nightmare has finally been resolved!

Yeah, almost to the point of quoted figures from unknown sources becoming a a bit spurious and meaningless.

Would be very cool if we could get all the really powerful SX engined cars together some time for a RR meet,
    APT perhaps?

    Definitely

Unlike in the US people don't seem to be all that forthcoming with info on big hp setups which is a shame.

we never get to run cars from aboard like that so will never get to see

its the age old dyno debate,

some time even with dynos we have used we have to except cars didnt have the power we first thought!!!!
