Annalie took a break from the car at this point while she made one of these
hahaha nice one !!!
it almost the same with me and my missus... lol... but we haven't done that much in my s13 ... lol
congrats, for both of you, on the wedding, the baby and on the job done in the car
Phase 2:
Taking the car to bits again and doing more stuff to it.
I took the rear subframe off again and put on a few adjustable bits and poly bushes, and this time it is Powder Coat as I had started a new business in the meantime:
Jez kindly let me powder coat some rocker covers for him too:
I wanted to go to a H-Dev stage three set up, but money was tight with just having started a business, so I did it on the cheap.
I got a T05 16G turbo off ebay for £100, the seller thought it was from a Evo8 but I later found out through Owen Developments from the part number that it was the biggest of the turbos off an Evo 9 with a titanium shaft etc...
This differed quite a bit from the T28 I had fitted as you can see:
Thanks Dude
I liked the ones with the women on them, bring back the boobs! That's an ooooold can of sunny T! The ol' surfboard, its had 2 redesigns since
The new turbo meant that I had to make a manifold to make it fit as it was a twin scroll and it spins the opposite way, so the packaging was a lot different. First I made some measurements of the cylinder head and the turbo so that I could make some new flanges:
I sent the Autocad drawings to a sheet metal company and they sent these back:

I soon had all the ingredients I needed for the manifold, I used 1 1/2" Schedule 40 steam pipe which just happened to be the right size and had all the weldable bends etc..:
I hung the turbo where it needed to go and knocked together a rough plan for the routing of the pipes:
I should really get a Blue Peter badge at this point:
It was then a case of cutting all the pipes into their right shape with the angle grinder and tacking them together:
All the pipes were then cut off the flanges and welded round the seams using the TIG, before welding them all onto the flanges in a sequence that allowed access to all the awkward bits:
And here it is trial fitted on a spare cylinder head:
I eventually ended up with all this crap to allow it to fit!
And finally I got it fitted to the engine in the car and it all looks like it's going to work:
At this point in the project I had already started on something else. Since I had replaced the rear arms and set the camber up properly the wheels had started to touch the arches going round bends. To combat this I came up with what I feel to be the perfect solution:
Now that's what I call arches! Shouldn't be any rubbing once I get those babies on there.
I found an abandoned Frontera Sport down the road and I headed for it one weekend with an angle grinder and a small generator. Half an hour later I left the poor mutilated thing to die by the side of the road.
But the Frontera arches were going to make the car seriously wide so I ended up having to make a set of these too:
Thats a heartwarming story! Well done guys on the three counts! Car/Marraige/Baby!
Don't think i could strip a car in 2 months let alone build one properly, excellent work
You only need two tools in life - wd-40 and duct tape. If it doesn't move and should, use the wd-40. If it shouldn't move and does, use the duct tape.
And if you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem!
nice project, and congratulations!! have you got that turbo working yet?
awesome work on the mani dude and te wife looking at the baby
Cant wait for the next installment, well done to you both on all counts!
well done i would have done the same at your age but i did'nt have such
a helpful and understanding wife so i had to wait until i could get rid of her
