your a jammy sod, do you know that
Hi lads, got a question for anyone in the know - the bloke I bought the car off of said that the tyres were directional but they are slicks. Not too sure how to tell what is what, I'll be marking the tyres as I remove them however.
Also was going to remove this:-
Plus any assocaited wiring, assume its a lap timer or something.
Cheers,
Dunc.
That's yer flux capacitor dude, don't be removing that!
yep, slicks are directional, obviously not because of the tread but to do with the way the carcass laminations are constructed (they will be crossplies, most slicks are). if you get them on wrong the car will handle really oddly, makes heck of a difference to the feel. if the tyres are Avons (bet they will be), have a look at this on BMTRs site
http://www.bmtr.co.uk/avonrotation.htm
look for the X on the carcass sidewall
as for timer, it may be a 'beacon' style where it picks up a signal from transmitter on the pitwall (looks like the rollcentre/demon thieves versions rebadged), but not sure as i use my datalogger for timing. bound to be a radical forum on P/H though
you gonna bring it over to the JAE Dunc?
Or do i need to fly over to Scotland to see it in the flesh?
Dunc.
Cooler than a frosty cucumber!
Well done dunc!
Can I ahve a go?
Right lads, got down to some testing today up at Alford motor Museum. No action shots I've afraid, other things you might notice are the removal of old sponsor stickers and the addition of the black wheels and recoloured the roll bar and links black.
Track was wet and started to dry towards end, car was good looking forward to first event (23rd March) and also very much looking forward to stretching its legs a bit more at knockhill (17th April).
Oil change planned for next w/e and nothing apart from that to do or fix - happy bunny

Aces
That looks totally mental
so how'd it drive then? I should have drawn you out the circuit we used last time i was there in the lotus cortina, could have compared times.
Yeah totally
Had to book it last minute, if I had been more organised I would have driven the same circuit used in sprints and compaired times with that.
Car was good mate, very intense drive compaired to anything else I have driven. Used hard full slicks in wet so was extremely slippy.

Looks great Dunc - looks lovely and tidy
