Its a black box with a display and "Radical timer" written in red across the top. Will get a good pic when I've got the car in my possession

Gordon, feel free to point me in the right direction for another set of wheels as would like a set for the harder compound slicks. Here'e the wets here, not to sure if they are better or worse than the set on the car (same)?

Cheers for advice and kind remarks lads

i realise weight saving is all relative, but the bike engined single seaters on the hills will be a fair bit lighter. often 'race' weight and 'sprint' weight panels vary, theres no 'rubbing' involved with other cars on the hills/sprints, so you can get away with lighter panels. full body-worked cars like Rads, ADRs etc are always at a weight disadvantage, although the extra surface area can help with stability at high speed, especially in the wet. smaller discs and calipers are used on the S/s often 'bike derived with cutaway discs (not much use for trackdays though). do a google for saxon, force and jedi cars. as for wheels, ive not seen alleycats have a problem to be honest, they are a rally drived cast wheel so a light radical shouldnt give them much grief if they havent been crash damaged, alot of the manta/chevette/escort boys use them. to drop the weight, most people use 3 piece split rims, should save 10-15kgs per set over cast wheels. i use Image wheels normally.

Cheers for the info CNHSS1 It was a sprint car previously BTW but I'd like to be able to keep it so it could handle a track day if required (I've got harder slicks and pads to do this).

Thats a massive saving! Is that a saving over this type of wheel I have then? Would be interesting to weight them because they are much smaller than my rotas and they weight about 6/7Kg each a large saving like that over these would be awesome .

Dunno steve, there was a thread up recently about the ring tightening up on rules - I'll have a look for you and see if I can find it

Would to take this round the ring though

Yeah I've seen the tightening up thing. Scary, seeing as my car isn't likely to even have anything Nissan left by the time I go...

I know Hopefully its all just over exaggerated a bit Even at that not convinced they'd be happy with me turning up with it on trailer and full slicks Think there might be a road worthy rule or must at least have lights rule

fair chance itll be a lightish radical then anyway, good news
13" alleycats, revolutions minilites etc which often appear on these sort of cars are generally ex-rally wheels (at least in design) and as such are a tad on the heavy side, but being only 13" diameter they are defo lighter than modern day 17 or 18" jobbie. split rims such as compomotive modulars, MB racing or Image wheels use eithera cast centre or billet centre with thin spun alloy inner/outer rims which weigh feck-all, 80% of the wheels weight for say a 7" wide 13" dia wheel will be in the centre. Billet centres are stiffer and lighter, especially if you choose a design for the purpose (think light, rather than rally style). beauty of splitties is that if you decide to change tyre width or offset, its only a new inner or outer not a whole wheel as with a normal cast item, or if you have an *ahem* off *cough*
im sure Radical use Image wheels on their race cars, often with centre locks rtaher than std wheel nuts, be worth speaking to the factory.
worth sticking with 13" wheels tho, loads tyre choice, keep the weight down and the rolling diameter which makes the tyres warm up quicker (small tyres=small rolling radius=more rotations per mile=stciky tyres)
Ive not driven one, but will bet it'll be night and day different from anything youve driven before, looks great fun. if you get to any sprints/hills in england next season, let me know, i may just be there...

    Nicely linked

But know the ones you mean, had already sent the guy an email waiting on reply

On the other hand I had a word with a local tyre place and he's happy to do the odd tyre change as a bit of sponsorship so might be able to swap tyres over for now and not need new wheels

Will see what sort of price this guy wants

Whatever compound come with the car

Basically there's a set of soft slicks on the car at the moment plus a set on wets on rims. In addition to this there's a harder set of slicks coming with the car too, these wheels are for those harder tyres. Will be using them for any testing or trackdays and the softest for any sprints and hillclimbs.
