how come other cars such as R5 gtt's, rs turbo escors and fiestas, cosworths (closer engine similarity) etc etc etc in many cases run much higher boost than we run.
i mean its not unheard of on a cossie and rs turbo escort to be running 25 psi from a little t3 etc,

so what makes there engines any different to ours, as surely they will be getting high EGT's too, but they still use those boost pressures with very very good results
T3 turbos aren't little matey. The turbine wheel & housings are a LOT bigger than the T28 (although the A/R tends to range from .48 - .63). It's this that helps keep EGTs down. The YB also has a higher BSFC I believe in comparison with the CA. <350bhp from greens (370cc), although it's not directly comparable.

M.D. - You can run boost pressures as high as you like (within reason) though the downside is the excess heat created, it is true that the RST and cossie boys etc do use huge boost through there turbo's but they also burn the turbo's out fast too.

Big boost isn't the be all and end all of power it is really down to the mass of air moved, for instance a T28 is going to move say (hypathetically) 50 100litres of air in 10 minutes @ 1bar and produce 280hp where as a T51 will move 800litres of air in 10 minutes @ 1bar and produce 600hp. Its all about the amount of air a turbo can move within its affective range not how much boost is used

In short its best to use a turbo spec'd to your car rather than just pushing your turbo beyond its limits as eventually the charge runs so hot that an extra 5psi may give as little as a 10hp increase of power and EGT's will sore burning out the turbo and chances are valves too

sorry i should have been more clear, the turbo on an rs turbo or r5 is much smaller than the ones we use, yet they still run massive amounts of boost compared to us,

im not on about what the fueling will allow, but as soon as anyone starts to run high boost on this site its frowned apon thats all,

altho i do agree that the thread starter here does need to understand that his power is not possible on his spec

edit, just got big G's post before i finshed mine, i understand that they burn turbos out a little quicker yes, but is that the only reason why most dont run higer boost on here and get the fueling to match,

I think people are quite conservative with boost in England (on the whole) not for any bad reason but beacuse everything costs so bloody much to replace if it does go wrong LOL

But as I said before don't worry about the level of boost its all about the amount of air you're turbo's moving boost pressure is just a number.
For instance we had a Supra in fitted with a seleection of mods and a T04Z (nice turbo ) it was running about 500-580hp iirc, at the same time another supra with an array of mods and a T51, now they were both running almost the same boost but which do you think had the greater power?? (hint the T51 is bigger and capable of moving more air ass)

Setting up a car though a flowed head and matching cams are going to see you a hell of alot of an increase in power even at the same boost level sheerly on efficiencey of gas flow, this efficiency in air flow may even let you run a slightly higher boost too

    GT3071R is for 460.. and 475..
    GT3076R is for 525!!!!

So why you can believe that my car has 350hp and 307whp?

After that example with jez car I hope to stop disdain ca motor and all 1800cc motors!
If it is small the CA what exactly is civic 1.6?? :P
when did anybody diss the ca , we are talking about your turbo post up your rolling road graph and i will shut up??? or is your scanner broke ?

also your car is in know way the same as jez's im sure he has far more engine work done and listens or learns from experiance ,

    Ah, the old boost/flow confusion.

The R5 engine is smaller than the CA, turbo's flow a certain amount of air in the efficiency range, on a smaller engine you can run more boost, with the same flow and efficiency.

i base how much boost can be run on the turbos effiency/air flow map

ah i see, starting to make sense now,

ive gone overly large with my new turbo which should help keep EGTs down anyway but i wont be able to run tooo much boost for the reason that ''big g'' has said,

im still realatively new to turbos but have picked up a lot over the last few years, and its all starting to make more sence now as you get more and more info on them,

i have a ported head and different inlet cam too so the power that my engine will make are different to others with stage 3 power, which is why i have just decided to go for 510cc injectors too

Nobody told something about Jez car??
At 20psi I have very lowww egt!! 850C MAX!
Why you don't run your GT28R's with the same boost?
    I said again at 17psi I saw 320!

You dissing the CA because you said that it cannot produce the numbers that garret says!
My car and jez produce more than garret specs! Ok the dyno I went sucks.. the dyno which went jez sucks too?

also your car is in know way the same as jez's im sure he has far more engine work done and listens or learns from experiance ,
Yes but is different the "350hp" and "560hp"! For 350 I don't need the jez's car engine work!

I stuck 1.5 bar (22psi) through a T3 with 444s and severely doubt it was much over 300bhp, as that is all that the injectors are good for at standard pressure.
I am not sure but I think that 300hp is the limit of the T3.. so you have good results, right?

I think that you distinguish me impolite and I am sorry but I didn't purpose to affront someone! Maybe the fault is my bad english..!
I like you and I feel like uk sx owner! Also I like very much our discussion!

Did you see their comparison sheet at all?
GT28RS and GT2871R are both said to be for 1.8-3.0 engines. But max HP for latter is 460, for GT28RS - 360

Also why noone said something about jez horsepower? How jez has more horses than garret said?

    Hp=bhp.

Edit: Danny was simply insinuating that Yanks talk shit, that's all.

GreeceS13 are you on standard diameter tires or close?

at that rpm in 5th gear you should have about 250km/k

He didn't. his highest power was recorded at the hubs which is more accurate than at the wheels, and the losses are much lower. Jez has never claimed 560bhp as far as I'm aware

The highest I got was 483whp on a Dynojet dyno at 2.1 bar
I also got 419bhp at the hubs at 1.8 bar
and 460 ish at the flywheel at SRR, but that was with a knackered inlet manifold
