    the what i should have done first time around gold 13

    i recently had a lovely grey s13 some of you may have seen on here, i put a lot of work into it to get it up to a standard i was happy with, mint replacement engine and new exedy clutch etc... the thing was spot on. then my mate said he was selling his gold pre facelift which i wanted from the get go, i had to have it so sold mine and donated my old block to his as he snapped his crank bolt in the crank (made a massive mess of it) we got it running and i picked it up one night.
    when ryan got it it was an auto, had hsd coilovers and an exhaust thats about it.
    spec when i got hold of it;

    engine;
    stock ca block, freshened up head with new seals and gaskets.
    mid mount intercooler with minimal pipework
    t28 turbo, possibly hybrid chineesy one but i dunno..
    hard piped intake with cone filter
    norris stage one chip?
    full stainless ear destroyer
    walbro pump

    trans;
    manual conversion
    jun lightweight flywheel
    exedy 5 puck clutch
    welded diff
    braided clutch line
    new clutch slave

    chassis/brakes/suspensions;
    fully stonechipped minty lush underneaths
    fresh brake booster
    s15 master cylinder
    abs removed and new lines run throughout
    braided lines to calipers
    5 stud hubs fronts modded for lock
    relocated rack for lock
    tein tie rods and ends with a wee spacer
    boxed caster brackets and lower arms
    whiteline arb's front and rear
    r33 front and rear brakes
    rear camber arms
    20mm spacers
    cheapy work meister copies 17x9 all round
    hsd coilovers
    cusco front and rear strut braces
    solid steering bush
    solid subframe bushes
    poly steering rack bushes

    insides;
    pair of bucket seats
    no rear bench but otherwise full interior
    harnesses
    depo boost gauge mounted on the dash with holes boooo!!!!
    fake omp wheel and boss
    blue dash lights
    purpletastic gear knob

    as i got it

    some free mods

    i sold the wheels off it, raised it up a bit so i could get into my yard, then threw my rims on... much better. (except the front ride height, that makes me sad but i cant afford bigger tires yet)

    next job, fit the 2 way diff i got off a mate. checked it out and it is a 4.3 or 4.4 final drive, stock s13 is 3.9 so its quite a difference. (good excuse to go rb on day though haha)
    popped the back plate off but im none the wiser what it is, looks like a kaaz as far as i can guess
    much better...

    got bored and fitted all this i had for the last car

    polybushed lower arms, modded knuckles, adjustable castor arms, r33 front discs (had slightly smaller s14 ones on) and fresh r33 calipers (the ones on the car were painted red with brembo stickers on, not keen) new pads too. had a few knightmare issues, the tein rod ends would not come out and the ball joint splitter mullered the threads, luckily i had a pair from years ago at the bottom of a tool box. one spacer nut rounded off so i could not remove it, then i swapped the front brake lines but they leaked so had to re flare them and fit the old lines back on. got the brakes bled up and realised the tracking was miles out, gave up for the night and called for a lift home. all sorted now though and alignment done...
    now the exhaust manifold has started leaking from somewhere so all that needs to come off.

    im trying to get some new tail lights sorted as i tried to wash the tint off with thinners but failed. jdm bumper would be nice but paint match would be a bitch...
    just need a pair of 225 45 17 tires for the front, then i can dial in the ride height and have it sitting right.

    Nice work on that mate! looks the business

    You only need two tools in life - wd-40 and duct tape. If it doesn't move and should, use the wd-40. If it shouldn't move and does, use the duct tape.

    And if you can't fix it with a hammer,you've got an electrical problem!

    new tires are on. feels pretty planted. had to bash some seams in the front arches down as they fouled a bit.

    i also removed the tint spray crap from the side repeaters and rear lights, was a mission but well worth it.

    i am preparing to make a new exhaust system, have all the bits now just need to put it all together. i bought a job lot of stainless silencers and random tips as it had a couple i wanted, selling the rest off to pay for mine. im going with a 2.5" fairly free flowing system but i want it tucked as much as possible so it will not be as straight as is ideal. i bought a couple of 2.5" v bands too so removing/fitting should be a doddle. i just need to decide the position of the silencers and the tip arrangement, i was planning on straight pipe or shotgun out the back but as i have the posh tips im considering using one or two. as yet cant decide if i like any enough... help me out if you have any thoughts on the exit/s as im struggling.

    I like the burnt tips :-) but if your bored you can make me an exhaust for my 14 similar to Ryan's, but slightly more asbo and through the left overfender

    Will I ever be that bored haha. I'm thinking shotguns or a fairly small single.... could go side exit... possibilities are endless.

    well so far im on a single 2.5" pipe out the back. i ran out of bends so the rear section is made of straight for now, still needs another silencer at the back but i think i might go with two 2.5" pipes out the back when i get all the bits.

    looking good! Straight tailpipe works well I think, just personally not a fan of a fat can on the back

    yeah i quite like the subtlety of the tailpipe. cant help thinking a pair would look better though.
