Red face Legal Advice Help urgently Car related, Thank you

I need some legal advice regarding a Third party warranty, A mate toke out a warranty with www.warrantydirect.com. The campany has a policy which states that wear and tear is not covered, fair enough. My mates car a audi would not go in to reverse he recovered the car to a gearbox specialist who supplies and fits gearbox for racing, rallying and specialise only in gearboxs. They said a part which just operates the reverse gear has gone(auto) completely destroyed. On a car which has done less then 50000miles FSH is only 6 years old this has to be pre-mature failure as the rest of the box is in good condition and works perfectly going forward.

The warranty people sent a contracted independent firm to inspect the part and on the base of this report when they analysed it said it was wear and tear. The people who are repairing his car have said that theres no way a car with such low mileage, where a part only works in reverse which is hardly used, compared with the rest of the box which is in fulling working order can be anything but pre-mature failure. I asked my mate how independent can the gearbox specialist be if he is repairing the car. He asked the garage the same question who turned around and said "we get paid regardless by you or them" unlike the contracted independent engineers.

Is there any info I can pass on to my mate as this seem's the warranty people are dodging responsiblity.

Im am sorry to say from what i know Car warrenties are a waste of time and money unless you buy a new car.

Only recourse is go to court and have one expert argue against another and the the judge deceide. Not worth the money really.

It does sound like a lame get out, not really surprising to be honest.

I would say follow the information here. A warranty is an insurance product so should be governed by the same regulations as any other financial product.

I'm afraid to say that these warranties you buy from independants are worthless.

Try speaking to Audi up at Milton Keynes. They may be able to help.
