If you're going to the trouble of getting those bolts off, and clearly have the skills and a car off the road, surely you'd be better off just poly-bushing the subframe rather than fitting collars?

    Excellent work btw

Got some z32 calipers, Look better and work better (I hope) than the standard s14's They have a slight mark where they caught the previous owners wheels. Cleaned them up, there in good nick and bolted them on to see how things went...perfect! Just got to remove one of the snapped lines and fit the braided lines.

Went to clean the bonnet up and prep it for spraying, went to clean the underside up where there was a bit of rust and came across this...

    Photobucket

    Photobucket

Which then turned into this after attacking it with teh grinder..

    Photobucket

So it had to come out!

    Photobucket

Made a new plate up and bobs your uncle, still got a bit of work to do to teh weld but its nearly there, dont have an up to date pic though, Unfortunatly I set fire to the rubber stripp which runs along the end of teh bonnet, which bubbled the paint work on the other side! but it had to be rubbed down any ways so not to worry

My advice - blow torch on full bore. Heat the nuts so they expand but the studs don't. Then crack em. The WD you have soaked them in will also help. It will vaporise helping lubrication. You can’t fanny about doing this – you have to be pretty quick but from my experience it’s the best way. Hope this helps you and good luck

Doing a bit more, now that summer is here and its a bit warmer. First off managed to get some under coat on the replaced sill, around the rear o/s arch and rear end, among other places where rust used to be hiding.

Did some work on the bonnet, from where it was welded the paint blistered and peeled off on the upper side so I removed all the damaged bits and filled it. Also gave the under side a coat of primer.

Some other bits, The rear brakes are in a bit of a state... will need quite a bit of work. Also I needed new front lines as the old ones were a little minging! Had to cut the line to get them off! Got nice new shiney ones made up.

Also cleaned up the front bumper bracket, surprise surprise it had a fair bit of rust on it, soaked it for a day and then rubbed it down, & sprayed it in primer, came out pretty well in the end.

Also cleaned up and sprayed the near side sill, as there was a bit of rust on the too.

Got to take the dash out of the old car, its going to be a mission, but I need the bits and bobs that feed through to the engine bay. Started with the bar, which had a bit of rust, so i removed that and sprayed it up.

    Rear brakes

Decided that the rear calipers I attempted to refurb a year ago are beyond redemption, and the other set I have were knackered. So sourced some second hand ones, which came with new pistons and rubbers, thanks to Sean! Managed to get one side done, just need to do the other and then get some paint on them.

Due to leaving the air con out, I thought I'd got the whole hog and removed the refridgeration unit from the box inside the dash. It now has a clear run through.

Started removing a few bits from the engine bay, refurbing them along the way.

    Photobucket

Got the off side engine wiring loomb out, fed it through from inside to the engine bay. Labled it up and gave it a polish.

Got a few bits back in teh engine bay, trying to sort the servo, master cylinder and abs pump next.

Made a start by fitting the reconditioned 300zx calipers, new hard lines and goodridge braided hoses.

The off side caliper had a couple of sticky pistons so will take it apart and refurb it.
