So... the moral of the story is don't bother trying to fix them?

    Hehe I see...

Maybe its worth considering it as a 'how not to do it'

Would be worth finding out what caused the issue for the benefit of the DIYer's

Yeah, that was kind of my point (not getting at anyone!). ARe you planning to pull it apart again and figure out what went wrong? Seems as the thread was to 'get people repairing their boxes rather than binning' it's sending out the wrong message, i.e. one of the most experienced people on the board tried... then gave up

Obviously I have a keen interest here as I seem to be going through boxes like mad

Yep, plan to look at why, maybe oil being thinned by Kerosene from the parts washer, it went before it got its first oil change.

Maybe it wasnt shimmed correctly ...

We'll try again on a spare S13 box for Yak

Spring clips hold the bearings into the setup - look insode the bell, remove the plate, then the spring clips - from memory.

Phatbob guide is still up. Its just part of his transmissions site not the VEMS site.

Very good video! Do you know a reliable gearbox distributor or supplier?
