Looking good Pete, I know you said overspray is not so much of an issue with new gun, but couldn't you just have used one of those massive platic sheets that paint suppliers sell (on a roll), then mask around bottom of car?

I considered one of those Finishline guns, they're HVLP though aren't they? Use quite a lot of air. Too much for my small compressor.

The car will probably never be stock again although I have all the original bits like suspension and air box etc. Looks like it's braided brake lines then What’s the best ones to go for? Some I have seen look too long or don't fasten to the front strut properly.

It’s a good idea to wrap a plastic sheet around it, thanks Better be safe than sorry - or trying to remove overspray with a clay bar

The gun is HVLP and uses 9.8 cfm @ 35psi gun pressure. The high volume, low pressure does seem to reduce overspray though.

9.8 CFM isn't bad for HVLP, wonder if it is same I was looking at then. My Sealey Gold is supposed to do around 7CFM, but it's probably a bit higher than that in reality.

So at 35psi atomisation is just as good as conventional at say 50psi, but with far less overspray? I knew that was the theory with HVLP but never seen one in action.

I think Petrol has already had something to do with the cutty sark

You only need two tools in life - wd-40 and duct tape. If it doesn't move and should, use the wd-40. If it shouldn't move and does, use the duct tape.

And if you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem!

I would say the atomisation is better with the HVLP gun, don’t forget the old gun was only £25 so it’s not going to perform very well.

I would mix the Deox C a bit stronger than I did. Probably work a bit faster

The paint I am using is Besa Glass which is a polyurathane 2K paint. Not the best for protection but the best for bling

As for the hoses.... The Driftworks stuff looks good but does it fasten to the front strut?

Some of the parts were quite pitted. After 2 coats of primer I sprayed everything with a coat of the 2k black gloss but used very little thinners - maybe 5%. This enabled me to give everything quite a thick coat. This covered the edges and filled the pitting to some degree. Parts with little pitting had a further 3 coats of gloss but I used more thinners to allows the paint to flow out better.

Badly pitted parts were left to dry for 2 days and flatted back. This is the lower arm

    Fuel tank strap.

These will be given sufficient paint to fill the pitting.

ARB is bad and still not sure how to sort it

Sikaflex on the arch seams. NS
