BGW worth a whole 10mph?!
I'd still concentrate on things like the fire extinguisher and bonnet pins though, getting round the corner at all is the most important thing

Getting there
And we're done
Good Luck
well done for getting it finished guys
out of interest how much does the 'shroom weigh? I'd just like to know as I have a big fat roll of Kevlar upstairs and I haven't played with any composites recently ... I'm going home on tuesday and the S14 may be back on wheels by then so I could do a template in ply like you guys have, then possibly do it in Kevlar if it's worth the weight saving
It's not all that heavy to be honest (considering it mounts to the chassis in 12 places ). The weight reduction from the bonnet more than makes up for it.
Most of the weight is in the brackets, bolts, strengthening bars. The facelift splitter we bodged on is attached to the ply rather than the bodywork so we removed the metal support from it. It's only meant as a prototype though so loads of room for improvement. Hardest parts was making it (relatively) easy to remove and still keep it well secured.
I'm trying to talk Yak into making the mounts from steel and reducing the number of them on the final version. If we use a stronger sheet we won't need the strenghtening bars either.
when is the time attack at donny? I know its this weekend some time
cool ...if it gives an overall gain now despite the weight of the mounts/stiffeners etc then it sounds like you're on to a winner
how many of you guys are now using S13s in time attack? Once you've sorted something out that is most aero efficient and lightweight it could be worth doing a bit of a group project to equip you all cheaply and make a bit of cash for the guys who come up with the best design!
sunday i think

well done guys
Just spoken to Yak and SM whove both enjoyed saturdays practice.
Yaks laping about 1:27s looks like his ¨not last¨ mission is well in reach Good luck in the morning guys!
good work fellas, best of luck for tomorrow!
Just spoke to him myself. I think i woke him up, probably trying to catch up after last nights lack of sleep He's definitely looking pretty quick considering it's the 2nd lowest power car on the grid.
He couldn't say for definite if the splitter was working or not but the fact that it hasn't fallen off yet is good enough for me
well that was a fun day
Yak managed his fastest lap when it counted a 1:25.702 and came 17th out of 30 cars, 25 of which set a time. With 230bhp he managed to make some 400+ bhp cars look quite silly

Yo ho ho
Er... is it this one, or that?
Great job

cool pics, it looks nice and purposeful... the splitter looks great, and hopefully it'll have been doing a good job of increasing the front grip and making the car more slippery
the two cars side by side looks very cool well done
Well Done Yak
What cars were slower?
I bet it's an expensive looking list
