Now just a man!
Ok.... I think this is where we left it last update...
a lot has happened since then and now so I'll try and keep it interesting...
back to 2008.. we went to Shakespeare county drag strip..
This is what happened to the driveshafts on a well prepared surface..
Not only did it snap at both ends it snapped both driveshafts at the same time..
the car moved about 2" then...
we swapped for 2 new ones and the same thing happened... day over..
We had new ones made that are 4 times stronger than originals..
So next job was to build the new uprated driveshafts..
there was a lot of bad language going on because of all the grease..
sorted..now lets see if these bastids snap...
so, while Mike was F'ing and blinding re fitting the new shafts
I had to strip the wastgate so we could put in a much stronger spring..
we ended up putting in 2 springs..
for our future plan we needed more room at the back, so....
I must be mad
time to fill in the hole...
template
in place
I'm self taught at welding so no laughing...
not the easiest place to get too.
primed
and painted..
ok...
a few mods to do before this weekends racing...
as with the tradition with this car its last minute dot com again....
we need to get the car back to ND's for some tweeking..cutting...welding and mapping.....
first thing we need to do is sort a new down pipe,
so once again the turbo has to come off..
now with the turbo removed...
I spot a small crack on the wastegate bracket...
so out with my welder and......
now thats done its ready for its trip to ND's in the morning
for a little work on this bit..
and a few other bits also...
update.
we spent all Thursday at ND's and got done all we needed...
first to get the angle grinder treatment was the turbo.....
as we were going for a vband I did this...
scary stuff...
what am I doing...
oh well
no going back now...
next we had to weld on the clamp
so ND did the biz
thats the turbo side done..
neat
back on
now for the exhaust side..
ND's welding monkey came through..(cheers Ade)
top job
sweet
Mike and myself set about making the new downpipe...
much better bends than the last downpipe.
tacking it in place
old and new..less bends and twists more straightness....(get them gasses out mother fecker B) )
then Adey finished off the welding...
the last job to do was a new intake pipe...
getting there..
snigger.....
and finished..
that was a long day..
booked on the rollers Friday..(eek)
with the first round of pro-street on Sunday we were at the rollers on Friday..
Mr ND doing the biz
then we tryed the air feed this way and she ran LEES power
if I remember she made 629 hp
Thats fair sw4nky, Not sure about your new rear light mod
Now just a man!
Who the Fcuk's Bigtone?
just remembered... the rolling road was in the garage just outside Castle Combe Circuit.
just as we finished 2 members from the Circuit popped in, apparently some one was on the phone to the Circuit complaining they were violating the track noise limit.
This left them all scratching their heads as there was no one out on track.... so I doubt I'll be allowed on track then....
That's cracking, haven't been to circuit sports for ages.
