Oh, and keep the pictures flowing too haha
Im actually quite glad your still building this, as when you said you were selling the engine it made me a little bit sick after knowing how much id just spent on mine
Have I gotten the wrong end of the stick or is this still destined to be the approx 700bhp Tomei engine?
Yeah its still that one at last reckoning
Now just a man!
tomei engine is mine
Ah so this is going to be another v8 engine hybrid non 200sx thing then? Its difficult to keep up
Now just a man!
the kit looks really nice. all works well together.
i like the spoiler brackets. i might borrow that idea
na i hant really, just playing
Cool, I was worried you had given him an excuse to ruin the car
Now just a man!
Lol the V8 thing is ok for the odd one or two but is getting out of hand
Come on Bren get a proper engines 200sx ready so we can see how the V8,s compare
Agreed! V8 SX is a cool idea but as a demo car for a 200SX specialist I think it'd be a bit pointless Roll on Tomei goodness!
Came down to Garys (AP Tuning) with Mike yesterday. Was very productive. Ive got some pics but am on Garys sofa on his laptop snow so cant put them up yet, will do tommorrow.
Quick update on current state of play:
1) Engine, box, clutch, diff is all installed
2) Front and rear suspension was partly installed (no d/shafts, Gen1 coilovers (shows how old the project is!) no arbs, stockdard rod and rod ends.).
3) Fuel systems installed
4) Brakes are fitted
5) Battery box, battery cut off and extinguisher bottle all installed
Thats about it and is where we are working from.
Yesterday we:
Installed intercooler - including cutting holes, fabricating top mount bracket, trimming bumper.
Installed the 600bhp Apex driveshafts
Fitted the BC Racing external resevoir coilovers. Current plan is to run 60mm ride height at the cars lowest point.
Installed the Ikeya Formula front track rods and bump steer ends
Test fitted the seat with custom frame
Fitted exhaust
Decided upon design of gearbox bracket to allow downpipe to fit
Had a play with the airjacks. Moslar UK popped over in the afternoon for Gary to do some mapping. They kindly lent us their air jack bottle system, so we had a play with the jacks. Proper cool, got a short vid, will posts tommorrow.
Installed front and rear anti roll bars.
We have decided where the oil cooler and powersteering cooler are going to fit and have a very good idea of where the vents are going to sit in the bumper, what type etc.
We also made head starts in the design process of a number of key areas so today we aim to get the gearbox mount finalised so we can finish customising the down pipe today. The Tial wastegate will be welded onto the manifold (not using a Greddy one, not good enough). The manifold itself can then come off to be sent to a manifold specialist to see what they can do to improve on the design in terms of strength and longevity.
We also want to get the heater box in. Sounds nothing but its a big job, the cage is proving a huge pain in the ass with regards to reinstalling the heater box and the box is having to be cut up to make it fit.
The wiring loom is going to be one of the biggest jobs but there are no end of smaller custom tasks that are going to take a day a piece, if not more.
Anyhoos, serious progress, cars looking more and more complete.
Plans are to have it ready for our next open day, 25th October!
Pics and vid to come tommorrow, youll like the ai jacks, theyre cool, I must have watched the vid 10 times!
Sounds good, I guess it won't be ready for snetterton next week then
Will you be running something else or just watching?
AWESOME
I was wondering when we'd hear more on this one. Look forward to seeing this on track.
Piiiiiiiiiiicccccccccssssssss
I thought that the day would never come. Can't wait to see the progress.
1998 Nissan 200sx s14a , 2000 std 5 speed with nismo supercoppermix clutch bn6 Sapphire Blue
Good to here there is some more progress on this
Do you really need a heater box? I'm guessing you only really want it for screen demisting, in which case the electric screen demister blowers that you can buy for kit cars would seem to be a better option, though I haven't tried them to know how well they work.
Alternatively, I'm intending to use a heated screen on the minor - solves all the problems. I believe there are companies that will custom make them if there isn't an s14 option already - seems a sensible idea on a (near) money no object build like this, or even get a batch made and flog a few - would surely be popular with the stripped out drifty crew?
Looking forward to seeing pics!
