    Boost problem after FMIC fitting

    Hi,

After fitting my type 1 Apex FMIC, it seems that my boost will not hold steady.
In 3rd it boosts to 12 Psi then can be seen dropping to less than 10 then rising back to 12 Psi and up.

What would the general consensus be?

    Thanks,
    Graham.

    that's a bit odd

first off, I'd go round all the hose clips to make sure they are all tight ... then try running the car without the bren device to see if it boosts steady then.

Another thing you could try is blocking off the standard DV.

I take it you are not running a bren device or EBC? Have you done the FBU?

Well if you read the thread i posted mate, he had a same situation where the bov seemed knackered so he blocked it up and then it held boost all the way through...

I suspect that there is a boost leak somewhere tbh. It seems better until it reaches 12 psi....

I just want some warmer weather to do all this stuff. When does this global warming start???

Not got a light. And to cap things off the street lights are out and have been for about a week.
Might take a look in the morning if I get time....

    Sorry mate - missed this...

First thing is a boost pressure check... but having checked all the clips myself as you gay boys couldnt tighten them up enough I am pretty sure they are fine

So I would be looking at the Bren device / dump valve and clutch...

Whys it only boosting to 12psi?... should be 15psi!

If want me to take a look Saturday then feel free to drop round mate -

i had a boosting issue a few months ago and it was the bren device so me and steA ditched it and im running just the adjustable actuator. try another bren device or bleed valve first .

Well, defo no the clutch. Revs remain the same under accel.
Bren device could be leaking boost. I will dimantle it tonight and add a shed load more PTFE tape and stretch the spring. I thought it might be the actuator opening early. Or is that controlled by the bren device? Not sure how it works really... Anyone care to explain?

Does the actuator's feed come from the cold pipework?

no, the instructions say to take it from the hot pipe, which I think should really be the cold side of the FMIC

I'd take the feed as close to the turbo as possible.

    Also, whats the actuator like?

Well it is now getting worse. It wont boost above 7-8psi.

Is it safe to drive 60 miles a day with it like that till the weekend?
