    Mine was JDM

Remember you'll lose the ABS and speedo if that sort of thing bothers you...

Well unless you're really keen with wiring diagrams and fancy grafting the S15 ABS computer back into the new ECU's harness (or you can get ahold of an S15 ECU harness )

ok, plans changed a little. I found a great deal on a S15 SR20DET w/ ECU, complete harness, basically everything. What is going to be involved with this swap? I imagine it will be pretty simple.

Is this gonna be plug & play in my Spec-S? Thanks!

I think it will be a plug and play jobbie.
Just a thought, I am not sure if the fuel pump on the 160hp spec s is the same as the 250hp spec R? Maybe worth an upgrade?
    Good luck.

Out of interest do you ride a superbike?

Fuel pump is on the way here from the US, Walbro 255.

I currently ride a 2001 R1, but I've been riding my whole life, owned about 10 different "superbikes".

Oh cool, I sold my Suzuki GSXR1000 K3 to buy the S15, which I have hardly drove yet as I keep working on it instead!

    I miss my bike...

Max, I can't believe you've not finished it yet. What's left to do?

    Hi Mitch,
I guess its getting close now. Had a problem fitting the LSD, something not right about it so need a specialist to take a look. I bought it second hand but supposedly new in box? I need to fit the GTR Handbrake set up, I need to sort out what I'm doing with the body kit, then pretty much ready to get it mapped and smoke up some tyres!
I can't believe how long Ive been doing this... I should get it on track this side of Christmas

Just an update to this thread

Ive just done the same conversion as Mitch and Max, mine was a n/a auto and i bought an s14 front cut. It might be of interest to any others thinking of the conversion i have wired in the ABS and aircon as well.

I sat both engines next to each other and cut and spliced it all in, and everything works perfectly straight off, i was shocked to say the least as i wouldnt consider myself an expert on wiring by any means!

One note on the diagram here, if ive read it right it suggests pin 48 of the s14 F4 only needs power for the EGR stuff...are you sure? It looks from the wiring diagram its a main IGN live needed for the ECU to do anything? It certainly works that way on mine anyway

As for the conversion itself, it has to be the easiest, quickest and most satisfying conversion going! Took me a weekend and a couple of evenings on my own from taking apart the s14 front cut, to turning the key

Glad that excel file is still of use

What diagram are you going off for pin 48 being wrong? (i.e. what page of the workshop manual?). You're not mixing it up with pin 48 of the ECU are you? - it's just that (it's been a while ) I can't even remember or work out how I came to the conclusion that it's for the EGR on the LHD cars I can't see it as a main ignition feed anywhere either.

The whole line should be greyed out though, not just the 'EGR' bit, so I'll update the excel file if we're sure it's right .

I think it was in the 'trouble shooting' of the electrical section in the s14 manual download....there is a handy chart showing all the ecu grounds and power sources.

Very handy file indeed, got me up and running quickly...thank you!

Should have read your post a bit better...you have me wondering on whether it was 48 on the ecu now! im not near the stuff i printed out and i cant remember now. I'll update tomorrow and with a page number from the workshop manual where i found the info as well...dont want to confuse anybody else!

Ive had a check...its in the s14 manual, page EC-105, and i had remembered right! f4 pin 48, ecu pin 45, brown wire....looks fairly important and my car wouldnt run without it!

Ah, well spotted. It was the EGR bit that threw me above.

I'll update F4.xls and put it up again soon.

Looks like it's just the S14 that uses that pin, the S14a uses F4 pin 40 for power (I'm guessing that's why no-one else noticed it before now)

Ok, I will bump this old thread, most probably I will ask more questions about S15 wiring loom as I'm swapping VH in it but first of all:

Will my speedo work with ABS contol unit in place, but removed ABS actuator? Can I cut out all the crap from actuator to control unit?

I'd imagine that it would - as long as the control unit has power and a signal from the rear diff, it should send a signal to the speedo.
Will take a bit of wiring though as the control unit is within the S15 ECU harness, so you'll have to remove it and splice it with the new engine harness.

Cheers again for all your help!
