that wont work ...... a beach ball covered in butter will always have a secion of butter facing the floor, then you put a cat in it which wants to land with its feet on the floor.
All you have done is multiplied the proability of it hitting the floor ... we now have 2 surfaces wanting to meet the floor at the same time.
you have invented a device that will hit the floor no matter what happens ... if you put this thing on the table it will always roll off on to the floor. .. put this thing in deep space and it will locate a carpet.

. Nobody took into effect the fact that the cat/toast has to be dropped in the first place and that the effort of picking up a cat is always greater than the energy released by it's falling/landing.
