When I did mine I think they were about £600 odds for the survival and £60 for the medical. I claimed it back from my employer after I had worked 3 months though, which was nice

Just asked one of the petrofac guys about your situation here and they say unless qualified for a certain job you'll be starting at roustabout to see what your like and to see if you like the offshore experience, so it looks like your for higher things maybe, production operator or something similar but anyway it all means more ££££££££££££££ anyway you lucky ****er 2 weeks on 3 weks off, luxury eh Dai D or boombastik ??

Feck the green hand course is fully booked till the end of the year at RGIT and it costs 918 quid, looks like I am going to have to shell out nearly 1600 quid to move job.

Anyone know of anywhere else that does the greenhand course.

Not sure what courses they offer but I did my basic offshore course at Nutec in Dyce, Aberdeen. They were pretty decent and may be quieter than RGIT.

    Congrats on the job kev

Does suck a bit having to pay that much for the course

Did you apply specificaly for that job or did you just fire your CV to them?

Is that job also classed as Riggers?

I seen some vacancies for riggers for another company in Aberdeen, but dont know exactly what the job involves. Says you get a NVQ at the end of, so I'm thinking I will be over qualified for that.

    Stumitch,

Do you know anybody specific to talk to about a job there. I see you are from Hull. I'm about 10miles from Hull at the moment working for British Aerospace.

Anyone know how a QS (quantity surveyor) could get started in "the Oil" , looking at the sites listed already in this thread, Cost engineer keeps popping up, anyone know any more about the job?

Cost engineer I believe estimates the cost of works, we have them here where I work and they review all our tenders and price the work
