they seem to be busy at the moment.
yeh, I heard that schlumberger arnt that good and that they over work there employees.
They did say they were the best company around, but after reading through the forum on the oil careers website, says a completely different story
Baker have had loads of folk join fron Schlum, I can only think of one guy who went the other way and he came back :-)
Tonnie - I know exactly what you mean! I spent the past 4 years sitting in front of a computer 9-5, and just wasn't what i wanted to do! Don't get my wrong, I love working with computers, but need something hands on as well - which is why I jumped at the chance of the job I now do!
Good luck, its a shitty world out there, and it does take a while to find somewhere to settle into as you just can't tell what a jobs gonna be like till you actually do it!
Col
Dai, anyone I should speak to at baker about a job?
Anything in particular? We're seperated into a few divisions, I work for Baker Hughes Inteq we specialized in drilling, theres baker oil tools who run the
completions, Baker fluids who run the mud and cuttings handling and Baker Atlas
who run the wire line tools.
For Inteq the person to contact would be Debbie Berrisford. Shall I pm you her email?

I've been doin' the offshore thing for about a year and a half now, fair enough as a chef and not as a real north sea tiger. It's the muts nuts!!!!!, fair enough you go away for a few weeks and work 12 hour shifts with no day off but there isn't any other job that will give you time off = time worked.
Go for it is what I say. Plus you get two free helicopter rides a month.
You will never know unless you go.
Cheers for the compliments Stu and yes the Fortees Southern Trust is a ...............(I refuse to go back there)
Just got offered a roustabout position on 27K providing I can get my qualifications.(green hand and basic offshore)
might take it as they said there was the opportunity to advance within 6 months.
Oh this was with Petrofac.
YAY - get in there sonny
Well done mate, once you get your first trip off its far easier to get a start elsewhere. I'm still getting phonecalls from agencies and i've not worked offshore for 2 years
