fold and comply like a good little country we are
tell Brussels bureaucrats to go feck emselves

I really couldn't give a fcuk either way and TBH I dont see why Brussels do either
It really makes NO real difference to peoples lives.
Even if we do agree to it it wont make any difference whatso ever.
the law will state that we must sell beer in Metric measurements, but doesnt state how much we have sell.
So all bartenders need to do is stick a notice up in the pub saying Beer is sold in 2 sizes "xxx" ml and "yyy"ml - depending on how many mls in a pint / 1/2 pint.
And glasses will remain the same size as they are now. - And everyone will call it a pint.
Seems a lot of legislation though just for one notice - still they did it for shots of Spirit, "served in 25ml measures"
I suppose it's fair enough because if you wanted Coke and they gave you Pepsi then you would be in your rights to complain, but in the real world everyone knows what you mean when you ask for a coke and very few would complain. I think the real reason is that Pepsi are pissed off with the Coke name being so strongly linked with the drink cola, but it's human nature and everyone does it. How many times do you hear someone say 'I'm going Rollerblading'? Or 'doing the Hoovering'? Or 'put a call out on the Tannoy'?Originally Posted by lil ben
Pepsi only have themselves to blame by giving their drink a sounding name.
It is impossible for anyone to sound hard or cool when asking for a "Pepsi" - It doesnt matter how much attitude you put in to it, no matter how hard you pronounce the "P"s you always sound like a single mother in Tooting broadway wearing a fake fur coat and 3/4 length leggings and pushing a child in a pushchair with one hand and smoking a fag with another.
"ear dijew ear dat new pepsi and shirley song"
"faaak in ell, got an angover smorning, need a faaaking pepsi"
Or you sound just plain
"ooooh Thomas, I am parched, pass me a cold pepsi out the fridge will you dear"

Hmmm... I'm paying someone one to tell our country to get rid of the pint measure. That's money well spent IMO
its only cos the fcuking europeans can't pour pints
when you order a beer in europe, its just called a medium or large whatever. they don't even use the metric sytem anyway, probably becasue they can't actually get 500ml of beer into a litre glass becasue of the 16" head they get on it.
Tell 'em to fook off until they can pour a pint, then we'll talk again.
Dont gove a fcuk what they do - its rare i have a pint of anything - unless its JD & pepsi
I will stick to the spirits i think
I am going to feel a right going and asking for 0.56l of Guiness. So they can fook right off.
They've been served in metric measures for years and no one complained about that did they?Originally Posted by MEL
on a similar but still slightly off topic level, i do think we should tell america to fcuk off, or rather india should.

they've found high levels of pesticides in soft drinks (allegedly) and thus have banned them, and america is whinging about it saying they shouldn't because it harms overseas business potential ? errrr, personally i think they should be applauded for outright banning the shit, which is made over there, and thus is likely to be different from the yank stuff, so what the fudge has it got to do with the yanks? top work india and the others that have banned it i say, for giving a shit about you people's health america should take a leaf out of their book, the fact 99% of it's population are 90 fecking stone and dropping down dead with respiritory failure etc IS your problem!!!
aaaand breathe
I find that kind of Ironic that India has banned import of soft drinks due to the pesticides in them - yet they keep dishing out the high levels of infected drinking water, that makes 99% of ANYONE that visits the country ill.

why cant brussels do somethig worth while, like forcing the government to lower the massive tax on petrol, instead of changing a word on a blackboard in a few pubs.
