they're awesome.
What do you mean by "same costs"?
Cost to buy plus repair costs for a year
As in fuel economy and general stuff but insurance will be higher
dunno, I don't think I'd like to pay Audi S8 service charges
i bet it wouldn't it'd be awful on petrol, parts would be expensive and hard-to find, and it'd be a bitch to work on.Originally Posted by Sykes
driving-wise you're comparing a powerful big luxo-barge to a compact coupe. 200 will be way more fun
NB i have never owned or driven an A/S8 so this reply is purely speculation
power-crazed Head-Mod
I would be most surprised if the running costs of an S8 are anywhere near those of a 200sx.Originally Posted by Sykes

That one's on £9k with 113k on the clock, not exactly 200sx prices either
parkers quotes 29mpg for a 200 and 20mpg for a S8. I still own a 200 and have a 728 sport which according to parkers does 25 mpg dont know if these are accurate or not
The S8 is going to be hideous on juice around town compared to the 200.
And 29mpg to 20mpg is 32% more petrol.
A similar comparison, I've just got a BMW 525 (2.5) estate it does 16-17mpg to work and back (6 miles of DC and 2 miles of town driving) and 26-30mpg on the motorway @ 80. (I've not got bored of playing with the computer yet. )
It's worse than my 320bhp S13 and only a mere fraction of the fun.
No doubt it'll be a nice car though, just a bit dull.

true il have to consider this if i can afford it
Nice car but way more expensive all round.
Don't think of Ronin either, they disconnected the front driveshafts to get the thing to drift like that.
Very nice Q-car pretty damn fast too for a barge
You've never seen it even being comparible to a 200sx on the cost scale though! Both cars remaining standard that it, obviously you can blow a small fortune modding a 200, but then get a price for a stainless exhaust on a S8, I'll bet its the best part of a grand. And if anything blows it will cost you bigtime
Get the 200
I have had a more then a couple of 200sx and at the moment i have my mates to drive around in. I was thinking of a change but nothing that would require me to have to purchase a petrol station as well just to run it but you never know
My mate/mechanic used to have one before he sold it to get a family car, S6 (Fully decatted and single box system oh my ) and a TVR (shite ). TBH from what I remember of it, it was on petrol round town, but once you out on A roads it really wasn't that bar. But then, my 200 is not the best for MPG around town
I drove it a few times and you wouldn't really be arsed about doing a B road trash in it. But you could easy do a round the world trip at 155mph in the thing. It was quite surreal tbh, so quite, they have double glaxed windows. Hence no road noise, meaning its quite hard to guage what speed your doing with out looking at the speedo.

Stew B on s12 section has an A8 (dunno which variant but it aint likely to be a slow one!!). PM him he'd give ya a fair appraisal having owned it for a fair while. i know hes moving house soon/at the mo, i think i have his phone no somewhere. He was talking of selling it as he wasnt using it enough.
You really need to look into a lot more than fuel consumption to determine running costs!Originally Posted by Sykes
fuel consumption not the only factor when considering costs, but audi and in particular the s8 are meant to be really reliable. The only other cost would be consumables and insurance and thanks to gordon brown fuel
Your not wrong, he had his wing mirrors nicked three timesOriginally Posted by Sykes
I don't think the car ever went wrong... unlike the TVR Apart from fuel it did seam to eat tyres.
SI
I am not too worryed about the reliablity or the cost of insurance its the fuel consumption that i reckon would kill me as i do have a lead foot and i do alot of mileage
