Body shop for those in the Brum area.

    Auto Refinishers
Unit 10 Tame Road Industrial Estate
    Tame Road
    Witton
    B6 7MS

    0121 327 5145, ask for Paul.

I first used them a while ago when my 306 blew several chunks of engine internals through the front bumper and bonnet, they matched a custom pearlescent finish perfectly and repaired the body damage to a standard that it looked brand new.

The 200 failed it's MOT on rusty sills, and being as the passenger door has faded a different colour to the rest of the car and its covered in scratches the previous owner put all over it, I've had them quote for all the welding work plus a full respray which came back cheaper than almost anywhere else. The work Paul did on my 306 was top notch so he has the 200 to work his magic on. They're busy at the mo so won't be done for a couple of weeks yet.

I'm not sure I'd recommend these people to anyone. Had my car resprayed after some malicious damage. Got it back and the paint sank into the scratches so they were visible again, there was also a significant orange peel like effect on the nearside rear quarter. Kudos to them for redoing the work without question, but I kind of think they should have done it right the first time.

Really? I've never had any problems with them at all . Sorry to hear about your problems Paul.

Yeah, i was looking at taking my car to Tallis for spray work, and after seeing Wallers' car I'm not so sure
Now i've got to find somewhere else good for a reasonable price.

Have a look at mine when it's finally road legal, see what you think of the repaint. Paul has said he'd like to do more work like this rather than accident repairs, so may be worth a word with him.

just thought i'd add my opinions on a couple of these places that i have used.

    Chesman Engineering/Motorsport
(recommended by a classic car restorer and also a cylinder head genius) - mk2 golf 16v engine:-
    i had the block skimmed;
    crank knife edged;
    flywheel lightened;
pistons, conrods, and crank and flywheel all balanced.

a very good price, andy was great to deal with, spoke to him about cars for an hour and also got shown a spacer that he was making for a RB26 block (stroker kit).
    top quality work.
can be seen with crappy phone pics on page 2 of my build thread
    http://www.clubgti.com/forum/showthr...=123028&page=2

    cj tallis
recommended on here and seen work on david reids old car:-
had absolutely no problems with thier work.
did the rear quarter on my golf and the colour match was spot on. needed a quick going over on a very small area that they hadn't quite flatted and polished.
    easily and quickly sorted.

    A couple more recommendations:

    Electrical work:

    Goodwins
301 Highfield Road, Hall Green, Birmingham, B28 0BX
    Tel: 0121 778 6339

    Alignment:

    http://www.alineyourcar.co.uk/

I wouldn't go anywhere else but here, the owner is a great bloke who will talk you through all the options. They do the alignment for the Driftworks cars.

Craig At Dyno-Torque(AKA CalSport) in Brum

    Unit 8
    Seeleys Rd
    Birmingham
    West Midlands
    B11 2LF
    01217530415

(I think, these are google results - I could drive you there though )

Craig at DT is a legend. Does a lot of V8 work, and is the man you go to if you want an LS in an RX7.

The fabrication work he does is top notch - he's recently done some TIG welding for me at very good prices. Friendly, helpful bloke. Thoroughly recommended.

    Also,
    Pyramid Precision Engineering
    Unit 25
    Lythalls Lane Industrial Estate
    Lythalls Lane
    Coventry
    CV66FL
    024 7666 3447

Old School one man band engineering company.
The guy at Pyramid bored out the centres of some wheels for me for a good price, at a good turnaround. Top Stuff.

    Stereo Places (ICE)

Hi all, DY5/ Cradley Heath based, & want a good contact for a bit of 'ICE' work? Not very demanding as it's probs. only a speaker & amp install, but looking for value & quality. No 'show winner' window shaker needed, just good clean sound.

    Ideas & suggestions please?

    Rob.

As per Imdi's reply to me asking for recommendations for Ice work in the West Midlands, I booked in with his Bro 'Lewis' at www.nvmotorsport.co.uk for a bit of very (to them I’m sure) basic speaker, mounts & wiring upgrade. Top bloke, knowledgeable, helpful, informed, & well priced. Has plenty of Nissan & general JDM experience with a good dollop of VAG group knowhow chucked in.

Car ready for pick up early as well.

Will be taking my car back to him v. soon to get my RLTC set up & running at last.

Happy to add this Co. to our area sticky thread if a Mod can do it?

    Cheers,
    Rob.

Anyone know anyone in Brum where I can get my car serviced ? oil change etc ? ..I can do it myself but don't have much time at the moment. I don't really trust places like Kwik Fit as I've had to tell them before what to do

Only place I know and trust in Brum is Dyno-Torque in Tyseley They're probably very busy though, and it won't be pennies, but you will get top work done
