    My new car :-l

With my other half being pregnant AGAIN, and having 2 kids from my previous marriage, when my S14 had to come off the road for turbo gasket repair, I decided to get a 7 seater for transporting the kids at the weekends.

I am now a Volvo 850 estate driver, and I have to say, I quite like it. Not especially quick 2.4 10v, but pulls to 35 in first..... Only problem with it is that it handles like...... Well, like a Volvo estate, really! It's pretty sure footed around fast corners, but the wallowing is getting on my nerves!

Who recons lowering springs will help things? The other thing is that I believe it has the same sort of passive rear wheel steering as the SX. Anyone know if this is true?

That's incredible. Photoshop it Red and you've got it! Johnny, I'll get some pics when the wife gets back from work with it. Cost me £1200 for an L reg, 150,000 miles, 6 tax & 8 MOT,FVSH and I'm the 2nd owner. Can't really comment on the MPG as I drive it like I drive the SX (hence the need for the suspension upgrade), but 25MPG wouldn't be optomistic so far, and closer to 30MPG on a motorway run.

I've got one of them, I 'ave

Edit - John, I can't get over the fact that you've captured the car so PRECISELY! It's as if you've actually seen the car in the flesh! It truely is amazing what you, a 'Photoshop master', can create

This is the funniest thread that I have seen in a while. Can you keep it up?

(Sorry, not really a constructive post )

Dad's got a old 740 estate "The tank", its a 2.4 i think but it only gets 18-20mpg, though its has got the charateristics of an oil tanker when trying to turn. But it has done many a run up to the south of France, its got loads of room. It does break down now and then but its a piss of piss to fix and more importantly cheap, think my dad was saying he buys brake discs for it for £7 brand new.

Okay its not the coolest car in the world but my dad loves his and i dont think its ever going to leave the family. (although he did say if it broke down in France just to leave it there)

Just to resurrect this thread from the dead, but I've just gone out and bought the T5 version I wanted. Now we've got two 850 estates . The red one will be going sooner or later after I've swapped the 7 seat conversion and roof rails over.

Thanks AGAIN to John Berret for the new avatar from earlier in the thread which just happened to be the same colour .

Ebay linky to my new (cheap) T5.

I also defected to Volvo following the arrival of a baby. Try having a look through this site. I'm sure you can source some new suspension and advice on what one to go for:

150,000 miles its not even run in! and if the paint jobs as good as the photos I'd say you got a bargain.
