Just registered here, first post, got sent over by Bear from OcUK!
ekjim, wow, that's looking great!
I'm considering sticking an H22A engine from a UK spec Prelude into my Anglia (185bhp plus VTEC!) - have to investigate the condition of the engine though, i need to take it apart and see if it'll be economical to repair, it was run low on oil, knocking like mad, then on Friday when I bought it (mainly for body kit/leather/air con for my 96 Prelude) as I was getting it onto the M53 to call the AA to tow me home, it went bang
That should be nearly as mental as yours!!
Squizz,
You'll never get an Anglia to corner with Impreza running gear, without increasing the track substantially, and therefore losing the "sleeper" aspect - the Impreza engine is just too wide to give you any kind of turning circle - that's why my dad's Anglia has running gear from an older 1800 GLF rather than an Impreza - he wanted to be able to drive it on the roads, rather than purely in a straight line as he would have to if he'd used Impreza running gear.

What a cool conversion . Another old school Ford owner here. An Anglia is lighter than you think, a standard mk2 Escort weighs in at 900kg and Anglias are smaller and lighter so would guess 850kg with all trim in tact. I reckon my Escort is only 800kg as its striped out big time. You can't beat pissing all over modern cars in old Fords
LOL.. yeah, my Mate Andy's got a MKII Scort, its fantastic for pissing off boyracers...
5 door scabby as f*ck and still says 1.3GL on the back. awesome fun, especially now he's managed to fit an LSD into it
thanks again every1. i just checked the anglia handbook there and yes it is lighter than i thought, turns out standard, fully trimmed, the car wieghs 746kg. quite pleased when i found that out.
jim
p.s that green escort looks amazin mate
Thanks but it looks a lot better in pics than in the flesh. Its a bit scabby but solid. I still have the 1.3GL badge on mine too, although thankfully not the engine that goes with it. Yours will be proper rapid with that engine when its done. Mine can do high 6 second 0-60mph atm and thats with only 170bhp. Mind you half the fun with these cars is the fact they can't put all the power down
LOL... think you've got a better engine in yours than my mate has, he's only got a 1600 X-Flow in his at the moment, same wheels as you though, I think his might be just a little lower as well. his suspension bodges are piss funny to behold. his home made anti-tramp clamps seem to do the job though.
Yeah mines only an inch lower than standard cos it won't go over speed bumps otherwise. Anyway sorry for the thread highjack
Top project

Sorry - I wasn't actually considering an "Angle-Box"... Obviously I'd have to find something that'd accomodate the running gear. Actually, I always wanted to do it to a Skoda Rapide. As you can imagine, that'd need some serious thought concerning a transaxle, etc. Plus that'd be then end of the 4WD to make life easier.Originally Posted by Confused

Good work with the conversions chaps - I love old cars with modernised performance. I had a TR7V8 conversion done by Grinnall years ago. I miss that old car.
