Does make a noticeable difference, fitted mine this weekend, car now feels smoother and more torquey from about 2500rpm upwards

Also I may be imagining it, but it does feel less laggy. Worthwhile IMO

If you find one in a scrappy you should pick one up for peanuts (<£60). On the rare occasions they show up here they usually fetch £100 or so

Dunno exactly what you're looking for damage wise but checking the lobes are smooth and it's not bent would be a good start

Did you manage to do it without taking the cambelt off and refitting? I'm gonna do this soon (just bought the one pimped in this thread ) so hopefully it'll be a doddle... think I'll chuck it in gear and use tippex to keep everything marked up.

Where did you go wrong with yours in the end?

And did I do a good thing buying that cam...? Am I gonne be happy when its done??? (please say yes, please say yes, please say yes etc..)

Nope, I don't reckon you can do it without removing the belt because as soon as you release the tension it'll slip off the bottom pulley. I found this out to my cost.

In order to remove a cam, you have to remove the back timing cover, which means taking both cam wheels and the belt tensioner off. I thought I'd get away with it, meant I ended up putting it together and taking it apart again 3 times! Don't do what I did

Yes you did a good thing, definitely made a positive difference

BTW I got my CA16 cam for FREE
