i just bought some paint to paint my brake calipers. when i got home i read the tin - it said its only for ferrous metals and not for aluminium.
anyone know if this paint is suitable?

i would have to say no mate it could destroy the aluminium by the acid that the paint contains
are the calipers aluminium tho? i was thinking they were some sort of alloy?
I thought s14 calipers were steel and 300zx one were ally, so you should be ok
i thought they were cast iron
S14 callipers are cast iron - can use practically anything on them.
If you bought proper calliper paint (or even smooth hammerite) it should be fine.
Are they really?
I'm sure mine are Alloy
I just used smoothrite blue. was OK for about 25,000 and 8 trackdays then started flaking off.
Hi, I painted my calipers and disks with aluminium High temp paint (POR15). Seems to be lasting well but you need to do a lot of prep proir to painting. They are cast BTW.
You haven't got 300ZX callipers or GTR ones have you ?Originally Posted by SM

clearly another one of those purely-s14 technical thingymajigabobbies
nice wheels though !
A magnet will tell you if they are ali, it won't stick...
Just to save confusion, the colour of the paint was aluminium and the calipers are definitely not aluminium (given I wouldn't of had to spend so much time removing Rust).
painted em yesterday went on fine with no probs. they are definately not aluminium, cos of all the rust, but too bright to be steel. prob some sort of alloy.
anyway- job done!
