    Garages disgust me

just had a call from a guy i'm fitting an intercooler for in a week or so. His teubo gaskets went yesterday and he asked a garage for a quote as they said they were a nissan specialist. They stated that they couldn't get to the nuts on the manifold without removing the gearbox, so he may as well replace the clutch at the same time

well I put him right and i'm sorting him out, but god these crooks make me MAD

Some places like to try and take advantage of people as they think they know nothing. The worst ones are the ones that pick on women thinking that they know bugger all about cars and will there for do what ever they are told. It sucks big time

What I hate even more is when they charge you for things that you supplied to start with.

WESTOVER NISSAN in Bournemouth charged me for 4 litres of oil when they used the Mobil 15/50 I left in the car.

This is why i want to take my car to a specialist for servicing/tuning etc, figure they wont dick me around as I dont know a great deal (Im learning though! )

Although when i had my corsa & they said there was a prob, I asked to have a look, they assumed I knew what I was on about & got the 'supervisor' to have a look before i got there & low & behold - 'it seems the technician that initially looked at your car was wrong sir'

they piss me off too danny m8, I wanna take my motor to a garage so that I don't have to bother sorting out my oil leak (I'm too lazy and I've had enough) but I really can't be arsed with their bollocks and to have to pay ridiculous amounts of money. thing is they have all the tools in the world and nice big hydraulic ramps - its hardly a big deal with all their kit but they just see ££££'s... grrr feckers.

Not necessarily true, GTaRt tried to rip a guy off I kinda know (one of Phill's mates) with a clutch in his R34 GTR, the story is unbelievable.
I'm on track with it on Saturday @ Japfest, I hope to win LOL.

All the garages my sisters and mom went to in the states tried to rip them off, I would usually go with them to pick up the cars and the stories changed quickly.

There was one place in particular to buy tires that if a woman walked in with a man they wouldnt get any service, the salesman kept asking me what tires my sister wanted on her truck. She was a little angry to say the least.

    Phill might tell you.

They came good in the end, but not before they tried to sting him for about £3k, and got caught out in trying to do so, was pretty funny what happened actually.

A place in Glossop tried to charge a female friend for removing the steering column of her Golf, as they claimed it was the only way to remove the leaky washer bottle.....4.5 hours labour they reckoned.

Changed their minds when I went along and removed it in front of them, in 30 seconds with no tools at all....

A friend from work went to Westover Alfa Romeo in Bournemouth because his 156 was making a rattling noise on start up (only when cold). They phoned him to tell him the big ends had gone and they would replace the entire engine which would cost (approx) £2900.

It was pretty obvious from the symptoms that it wasn't the big ends so he took it to a small local garage who fixed it for £400 (cam belt tensioner).

I'm not sure if they actually thought the big ends had gone (which is pretty scary as it was obviously not the problem) or they were just trying to fleece him. Either way, they deserve all the bad publicity they get for that one.
