    More steering lock

What's the best way to get more steering lock on an S14?
I'll probably need longer tie rods but who does them and which are the best ones to get. Then I guess I'll need to grind off the lock stops?
    Anything else?

You can just stick a washer or spacer on the end of your steering rack, to allow the inner tie rod to travel further into the rack before hitting the lock stops. I think you'll be able to find more info if you search some US forums..

moving the track rod end that joints to the steering knuckle closer to the hub, will give you more lock.

How do they work? i mean, i can't see how they can make the steering angle more with out making the car toe out loads??

I know this is a silly question, but i can't see how they would work?

    Could you explain for us.....

Heh, me 2! The price we got them for is was worth the purchase. If only for the increased strength over standard items.

I'm glad i'm not the only one that thinks this, i mean it still bolts to the rack and to the steering knuckle in the same locations so how can in improve lock??

I'm confused and would love to know the trick to these rods, as at the moment its magical how they work

The end of the rod the joing the rack are smaller and stoppers is nearer the wheel so while they are the same length as the standard ones they and side further inside the rack before stopping thus giveing you more lock.

This confussed me for ages as well

Simular idea to PazzaAE86 bodge idea

lol, you got there before me, looked at the picture of them for the first time and i can now clearly see how they work, it replaces the rack stop end, so its smaller which gives more lock.

Simple now i've seen the picture

If you look at the standard and the Tein rods i'm guesesing "b" distantace is smaller then "a" or you can just wind them out and take it out on the rod its self to make the lock.

Thats what the spacers may be fore, to put in the hole to give it more distance from the rack

    Hope that makes sense

maybe not, but its got to be better then loosing a wheel underneath the car and hitting a wall if the rod failes

I don't think its that much more, about 5 mm or something silly but would be noticed on max lock

Will have to get some of these babys when i have some money spare (never)

I'll be with the car on Friday and compare the standard and tein units. I'll get some photos taken as well.
