'Misty' Display Window on Head Unit

I have a Sony XR-C510RDS head unit and the only way I can describe it is that the display window has gone misty in that it is very difficult to read what is on the display. Power is obviously getting through to the detatchable face plate but its as though all the characters and background in the display are on half brightness with the actual characters that should be being displayed on full brightness.

Is there anything I can do to repair this or have I got to source another detatchable face plate from Mr Sony or ebay etc

Any ideas on this one appreciated

mine did tis for a while..

its a loose conection somewhere.. maybe a dry solder on the pcb..

take it all to pieces, jiggle it all around, and see what happens.. that fixed mine..

Could be a bulb blown, it's quite common on those, it must be a few years old. Is it showing the same fault on either colour? I have a company that specialises in repairing consumer electronics and I'm sure we can sort it for you. I was working for a Sony ICE repair devision when they where building those and the bulbs do give up after a while.

    pnl01.

I had the same problem on my S14 a few years ago. I couldn't source a faceplate so emailed Sony direct with pictures of the screen. They sent me a new screen and a bill for about £10 inc P&P. Just need a steady hand and a good soldering iron to fit it.

    Hope this helps.

My display on the same head unit is absolutely fcukered - I've dropped it a few too many times I think

Is there anywhere I can get a new/replacement one from on the cheap?
