mine did tis for a while..
its a loose conection somewhere.. maybe a dry solder on the pcb..
take it all to pieces, jiggle it all around, and see what happens.. that fixed mine..

Could be a bulb blown, it's quite common on those, it must be a few years old. Is it showing the same fault on either colour? I have a company that specialises in repairing consumer electronics and I'm sure we can sort it for you. I was working for a Sony ICE repair devision when they where building those and the bulbs do give up after a while.

I had the same problem on my S14 a few years ago. I couldn't source a faceplate so emailed Sony direct with pictures of the screen. They sent me a new screen and a bill for about £10 inc P&P. Just need a steady hand and a good soldering iron to fit it.

Thanks for the responses guys....
I managed to source a later model Sony (C5120) and CD changer which I have installed. Thanks in any event.
Anyone need the bits Ive removed (head unit, changer??) Make me an offer??

My display on the same head unit is absolutely fcukered - I've dropped it a few too many times I think
Is there anywhere I can get a new/replacement one from on the cheap?
