    wot tyres on 18s?

    hello people
ive finnaly ordered my wheels for my s14a
there 18x8 with a 35 offset. its lowered 40 at front 35 rear ive been told that when it comes to wraping them in rubber i can either have 225s all round but advised to go 225s on front and 255s on rear.
i want to go with the wider on the back but a bit worried they might rub?
should 255s be ok on the rear?
    thanks alot

225's on the front or maybe 235's
would go for 245's on the back tho, 8's are a bit thin for 255's IMO
Shouldnt be a rubbing prob on back but you may need spacers on the front

Imho 225's are a good fit on 8in wheels, and will suit the front well. I agree with pugwash, I think 255 is going to be too much at the back, wouldn't go over 245 personally

At the moment i am running 265 on the rear of mine but they are on an 8" rim, so i would not go for them i would stick to a 245 on the rear, i have only got 265 on mine until i get my new wheels which will be 9 1/2" wide on the rear.

Yes i agree too, i am running 8" fronts with 225's and they look and fit fine with 5mm spacers on. I have 9" rear with 265 and they fit perfect in arch just enough room to move. 245 would be the max i would go for on an 8" rear.

doesnt it affect handling having wider on the back comparedto the front tho?

stretch some 185's on there hehe

    225/35 here

next time gonna lazz on 215/40 but thats drifting and not road use.

Still tho I would say no more than a 235/40

Tell me if you think you need spacers when you put your wheels on I have a feeling that all 18x8 wheels need a ET25 offset from my own experiences

I have 255 on a 9 inch rear and its too wobbly and fat for my liking, going to go down to a 235 next change. 235 on the front 8" seems ok though (going to drop that to a 225).

Well my 300zx wheels are 8 1/2 on back and 7 1/2 on front so meant to have different width tyres. Wider on back should give better arse end grip without compromising steering feel on front

edit: Oh yeah the fronts are 18 x 8 and the rears are 18 x 9
    Here's one of my rears..

25mm brings it out nicely with the arch

My 225s need a 3mm spacer although I got 5mm (well they were free )
If I had the money I would go for the 25mm, bolts on properly, instead of being lucky to get away with 5mm and looks with wheels out by archs instead of tucked underneath ala comma van

8" wheel with a 35 offset will be 3/4 of and inch closer to the strut than standard, which is about 10mm clearance, 3/4 of an inch is 18mm so at least 11mm to give the minimum clearance between tyre and strut (3mm)

feck it I would just get the bolt on spacers or you will be messing about with longer studs and all sorts.... 25-30 bolt on spacers
