The cores might be identical but are the inlet and outlet pipe positions the same and are the piping kis the same? Id rather have a tried and tested base to work from than have to modify (however slightly) pipework to get it to fit 100%.

Bren, I can't argue with that!

I'm 99% sure that the fitting is the same, but if its not then it makes for a lot of grief...

Ok, I'll cut holes if I have to, not ideal though

How easy is it to relocate a battery to the boot? What do I need to consider when doing this? Actually, that would make the car's weight distribution better, as that battery isn't light Yeah, don't mind doing that now

Would an intercooler sit in front of the Radiator, or is this not a good place for them?

HKS Style IC would be fine Bren - but better would be good!

We can have then as deep as we want. The largest tube size is 70mm but if we want say 90mm deep core well just go for 2x45mm or a 50 and 40 etc

Ill have a proper look around on Monday to see what I can find

Well I believe there MAY be one alternative to going through the battery tray, if it really was a problem. With the Apexi Hybrid IC. Its quite a small FMIC, but the piping goes through almost the stock location.

    Check this pic out :

This would keep cutting to a bare minimum although the IC is small compared to HKS type ones and the piping is much less direct.

On the plus side its a very efficient "Delta Fin" intercooler.

Right, just been and had a quick measure...

The standerd battery is 9"x6.75" and there is a gap between the front bar and the fuse box of 8". So, if you should be able to fit a replacement battery measuring 8"x<=6" turned through 90 degrees. That seems like a reasonably sized battery to me, I'll try and have a look in Halfords this weekend and see what looks a similar size.

Now, while I was there I noticed that there doesn't seem to be much clearance between the screen wash bottle and the body, I'll need to have a closer look at this as it might cause problems.

Btw, this is all on an S14a. Can anyone check the washer bottle on the S14??

Ben, on the HKS kit the washer bottle is moved slightly because it fouls the IC pipes otherwise. You get a bracket which rotates the washer bottle slightly, to allow some space for the pipes. This is the same on both S14 and S14a.

Jibber - thanks . BTW your package will be posted Monday. Spent this morning trying to pack the thing

    Cheers Papa!

Bren, looks like the kit will have to accomodate this, but it shouldn't be a problem.

Ben, I could be interested too. Richie has given me a list of a few things I should think about and an intercooler is on it.

I'm a mechanical muppet so I hope you will be supplying step by steps.

    Mmmmmm FMIC

I guess this falls into the declarable mod category... Doh!

Needs to be efficient, cause a very low pressure drop and (most importantly) be bigger than the S13 one!

Indeed BIG sum’s it up well

PS Cheers for the order confirmation Bren

I'm not letting this thread drop down the post list
I want a nice IC and would like to see a nice nice Apex one before shelling out for a HKS type S.
