Smile Group Buy on Oil Catch Tanks (Cusco)??

Anyone fancy one? These are full kits including all hoses, fittings and a polished alloy catch tank. Cusco is a top Japanese manufacturer. Seperate kits are made for RS13, S14 and S14a.

I am importing one for myself, so wondered if anyone else wants them?? Plus you don't have the hassle of importing

The kits are apparently a little heavier than I thought (2kg-ish) so best I can do them for is £85 if 5 people are interested. Local delivery will be £4.30 on top

I think the price is reasonable though considering Bailey Motorsport oil catch tanks for Fords cost about £100 and I'm not sure if they include piping..

Please let me know ASAP if anyone interested!!

    Thumbs up

    Thanks Bren!

Delivery is Parcelforce Standard which is "up to 3 days" but is insured (well I'm happy to absorb the 40p insurance cost ). If anyone prefers Special Delivery I will of course arrange it.

    Cheers

I'm very interested, but please tell me more...

Why is a oil catch tank useful, what does it stop? Is it more useful on higher than standard boost?

Jackal, heres a description from the TakaKaira web site :-

Oil Catch Tank works with just like a crankcase vent filter. It will bypass the connection between the crankcase and air induction intake track. This will relieve pressure place against the valve train under engine load. But unlike a crankcase vent filter, the oil used by the valve train will not drip onto adjacent engine components. The Oil Catch Tank will 'catch' all excess oil that is blow out by the valve train. This will keep your engine compartment clean, your performance maximized, and give your engine that custom look.

I've heard they are most beneficial when running higher than standard boost levels.

Matt - cheers, I'll send the payment details in due course once hopefully 5 are interested.

Lead times - I am requsting a definate answer. The indication so far is that these are available immediately so delivery should be in the region of 2-3 weeks once I have the cash If I hear differently you will be the first to know!!

OK, put me down for one if they remain at that price I assume all fitting instructions come too? Will I need a seperate breather filter for the tank?

These are instead of the breather filter, AFAIK! Fitting instructions DO come, but they are not in English! If you have any problems following the diagrams I should be able to get any problem parts of the manual translated for you.

What's the point in one of these Oil Catch Tank Thingmies?

Is it for lazy people who can't be arsed to put the sump plug back on after an oil change?

In case anyone is interested, Rally Design do a range of tanks. The Jaz 1 quart model comes with a K+N type filter, and costs £39.60+vat.
The Bailey Cossy types are £79+vat. These don't have a tank as such, but are designed to return the oil to the sump, though I think I'd run it into a tank of some kind.

Bren, I bet you can do better prices than these on Bailey stuff.

And can you get stuff by AH Fabrications? It's in the Demon Tweeks catalogue, catch tanks £65+vat. So that will be £40inc will it?

Yeah I can do a discount on the Bailey stuff if anyones interested

I dont deal with AH Fabrications. To be honest Ive not heard of them. How do you work out £65 plus vat to be £40 inclusive? I am going to see an alloy fabricator this evening so will get a price for Apex tanks this evening.
