    Stacey,

The Magnatec will be ok with regular changes but you can do much better. A good 5w-40 will not cost that much more and are the next step up in terms of performance and protection.

    Have a browse http://www.opieoils.co.uk/c-656-5w-40.aspx

At those temps a good 5w-40 synthetic, even 5w-30. Anything thicker just wont get up to temp.

How many miles will i leave that in the engine for or will the usual 3k mile service interval be ok??

Also will i continue using the 5w-40 for the forseeable future??

And lastly, only one more question....... what is the main difference between useing the pro-s 5w40, 10w40 and 10w50??

    Thanks for all your help.

No need to change at 3k, its good for up to 10k depending on use.

5w-40 is ideal for road/fast road. We tend to recommend 10w-50 for heavily modified and/or hard used on track as well as road. 15w-50 just generally track use.

Ok.... well the only mods i have at the moment are...

    T28R Turbo
Full 3 inch free flow exhaust with s/s manifold
    Colder plugs
    Cometic head gasket
    Apexi induction kit
i hope to boost it at 0.9 bar when the engine is fully broken in and also
it will get fast road use at times and the odd bit of sideways action from time to time too

So the pro s 5w-40 is ok for me then????

    Thanks,
    Simon

what do you mean at those temps? i meant that i drive the car hard when oil temp exceeds 60°c, but it goes upto 90+°c when driven hard.
Temperatures in belgium are usually not more than 20°c, but in summerdays it sometimes is 30°c +
got a new engine now (big ends went on the other one using the magnatec)
i guess we can get shell, castrol, motul, ... but maybe i just order it on your website if shipping to belgium isn't toooo expensive
i'll be running a stage 3+ enginge (mapped around 1.2 bar and probably seeing around 350 hp)

    new recommendations?

edit: do i need other oil to run the engine in and do i need to change the oil after 1000kms when the engine is ran in?

    cheers linus

If oil temps are below 100degC then a 5w-30 or 5w-40 are ideal. Anything thicker wastes power, uses more fuel and will give more wear due to increased friction

The Pro S 10w-50 is thinner whn cold then the Pro R 15w-50, when hot they are the same.

Pro 4 is fine in a car, you can use a bike oil in a car but not a car oil in a bike as unless it has the correct friction modifier in it you will get clutch slip on a bike.

The Pro 4 15w-50 is essentially the same as the Pro R. Thr Pro 4 Plus 5w-40 and the 10w-50 are essentially the same as teh pro S.
