Thanks. One more question, if you don't mind...
Tha car has Mobil 1 in the engine at present - do I need to do an engine flush when I fill up with the Silkolene?
Don't flush, just drain and refill

So no point buying some of this flush stuff when doing an oil change?
I heard something about doing an engine flush helps clean the tappets or something! Was that a load of bollox??

At first I was doubting this, thinking I'd need a thicker oil but after reading the thread I realise those short trips and cold starts will need exactly this kind. I'm hoping that will cover me for some hard road driving aswell.
I know its not a nissan and not exactly performance orrientated but can you recomend me some oil for my run about;
Make: VW

Hello oilman I need your help.
Im about to service my 180sx and need a recommendation on which oil to get.
Make: Nissan
Model: 180sx
Year: 1993
Engine Size: 1998cc
Engine Type: SR20DET
Any Mods: Stage 1/2 (circa 300hp)
Miles: 147,000KM's... 80-90 Thou Miles?
I drive the car on regular short journeys approx 10min drive to work and back etc. Letting the car warm up a bit first before each drive. I like to give the car some stick every so often.
Im just off to stratford-upon-avon this friday 14th and will be doing a couple runs on the 1/4mile which is the main reason for my oil change.
EDIT - Which oil filter i need off your site would be awesome too
Thanks in advance
Dave
I would go for the Pro S 10w-50 as tops.
Filters are not a problem, either call us to order or go for it online at my website.
Cheers
Guy.

Hi guys what engine oil would you recommend for the following vehicle (likely to see track action and no oil cooler as of yet):-
Toyota Soarer JZZ30, this has got the 1JZ engine in it (2.5L straight six twin ceramic turbos).
Its a '92 J plate, also any idea how much it takes?
Cheers,
Dunc.
Dunc,
I would go for the Silkolene Pro S 10w-50 if it is going to be used on track.
It will take 5ltr.
Cheers

Cheers mate should have some lying around
Simon,
Make: Nissan
Model: 200SX (14a)
Year: 99
Engine Size: 2L
Engine Type: Turbo
Any Mods: Stage 1 (See sig)
Type of driving: Daily commute of 8 miles each way and a little bit of fast road every now and then!
When I originally bought her she was being ran on 0-40 to stop the top end rattle but I put in 10-60 thinking it may calm it down as 0-40 was too thin?!
I take it Pro S 5-40 would be the best recommendation as it has thinner startup values and the temp should be fairly normal every day.
Yes, looking at the use I would go for 5w-40, the Pro S will be ideal.
Regards
Guy.

what do you recon to valvoline vr1 5w 50, been using it for about 6 months, used to use silkolene pro s 10w 50 but got much worse vvt rattle, seems very quiet lately with the valvoline, but it's a bit cheap so am worried by reading this post. mines a s14a stage 2 driven hard, when its warm of course, sometimes sustains high rpm aswell if running fast in top gear, recomendations?
