Hi,
I do around 7,000 miles a year with about 95% of journeys being under 15 minutes long . I have always changed oil every six months and for it's last change I used ProS 5-40. So I was wondering would it still be advisable to change every six months or is that just being a bit over protective.
Thanks
can you recommend me an oil to go for please
Make-nissan
Model- 200sx s13
Year- 1991
Engine Size- 1800cc
Engine Type- ca18det
Any Mods- induction kit, dump valve and very shortly turbo back exhaust
Type of driving (track or just road etc) fast road, mostly short trips oh and its a rattly engine lol
The oil you currently use (make and grade) halfords 10w50
many thanks. ben
Ben,
Im not sure halfords do a 10w-50?
Any way have a look at the Silkolene Pro S 10w-50 as this is an ester based synthetic and its quality has been more then proven.
Should also help to keep it quiet.
Cheers

Hello again oilman
I have now had the car on the road for a while. when driving on the freeway my oil temp is about 100 degrees C. If a accelerate to about 100mph the oil temp rises to about 110. I was planning on doing at least 2 trackdays this summer. but most of the mileage will be easy street. I'm kinda worried about the oil-temp I get when going fast. What viscosity oil should I use? and at what temp should I ease down on the throttle? I'll go Motul 300V just wondering which one.
Make: Nissan
Model: Silvia S15
Year: 1999
Engine Size: 1998 16v
Engine Type: SR20DET
Any Mods: Full 3" turboback exhaust system, air filter, fuel-pump, FMIC, upped boost, about 290 Bhp@fly
Type of driving: Basic short/mid distance road driving and some motorway along with some trackdays
Milage: about 32k miles
If you are going with the Motul then you will need to look at 300V 15w-50 for the track this will give plenty of headroom.
Cheers

1987 (It's a 280 - not that that makes any difference). Saying that, might be an idea to find out what would go in the Tickford Turbo at the same time. It's a mate, he has both
