    Hi Simon,
I'll phone you Monday/Tues with payment details but this will be the order for the North West

    5w40 Total = 2 x 5L
    10w50 Total = 27 x 5L
    Syn 5 (gear/diff) Total = 10 x 1L

    Total Litres 155

Hope you have enough in stock
Could you work out the total, I'll have to make some room on my credit card.

Well i've finally found a shop in Holland that sell motul oil for cars.

Now i just need to know which of the 300v oil is best for my car?

I use my car every day and also want to do some track days and drag races soon, so will the 10w-40 chrono be enough or should i go for the 15w-50 competition.?

Have about 300bhp now but i'm going for more very soon

The 15w-50 will give you better hot end protection then the 10w-40 but not such good cold start.

I would go 15w-50 and allow to warm nicely before stamping on the loud pedal.

    Cheers

Well I've just read through (some skim read) the full 21 pages whilst watching the Chelsea Liverpool game.......

Could you recommend oil for my W Reg S14A, 60K miles, manual. Driven mainly short journeys to work (sub 5/6 miles) and the odd blast up a dual carriageway. The first 40K of use was motorway usage and it has no VVT rattle and I wanna keep it that way! Not sure of oil at present as only bought it on Saturday...

From what I've read so far it seems 5w 40 would be the way to go for me, then move to 10w 50 if / once I start doing some engine modifications.

Could you also recommend gearbox / diff oils for the same car? Thanks

    I would go with Pro S 5w-40 and for gearbox/diff Silkolene Syn 5 75w-90.

Just call to order and we'll ship overnight "Amtrak" be quick though as offer ends 10th at midnight!

    Cheers

For daily driving and a bit of abuse 5w-40 and for serious stuff, 10w-50.

I normally have silkolene from you (gets sent with *****s oil).

Just going for an engine change and needed a very good gear box oil and any recomendations to a good running in oil, mineral of course...

    Jolly,

For the gearbox and diffs we recomend the Silkolene Syn5 75w-90 ester gear oil.

For running in oil, you will just need a good rich mineral 15w-50, I am a fan of the Silkolene Superma 15w-50 for this, but in reality any will do as it relies on the poor lubrication of minerals to bed the engine in.

    Cheers

All being well I should be picking up my new SX this afternoon. I don't know what oil is in it, but I can guarantee it won't be anything good and it might have been in there for a good while. I've e-mailed you for a price list so should be getting some decent Silkolene early next week.

Would it be better to leave whatever's in there just now and change straight to Silkolene when it arrives, or should I do an oil change tonight so I know what's in the engine? I have some Castrol GTX 10W40 that I could use, or I could buy some RS/Mobil or even Halfrauds hydrocracked 'fully synthetic' 5W40 that they're selling half price. It'd only be for 4-5 days (I will be doing a couple of 150 mile(ish) journeys in the first half of next week though) Would changing twice in this time do more harm than good?

    While I'm posting I may as well ask for specific advice of what oil to choose;
P reg 1997 Automatic 200SX 14a 2 litre standard tune with 73000 miles on it.
Everyday journeys of 12 miles to work but with occasional motorway journeys of 70-odd miles and a fair few country road journeys of up to 100 miles. No track use.

Also, I was intending to just get the stock Nissan oil filter - do you have any views on filters, any brands to recommend or is the standard one fine?

    Charlaph,

    Ok,

I would leave the oil in there till the Silkolene arrives, it should not take long

For the S14a with the kind of use it will get I would suggest the Silkolene Pro S 5w-40.

As for filters, we find the stock OEM ones are fine, we have not seen any evidence to suggest after market filters are any better.

    Cheers

    Hi,

what would you recommend for my sx, its on 114k running about 330-350 bhp on a stock bottom end with an up-rated top end and turbo. It only gets used every few days, mainly short journeys with the odd long m/way run.
    thanks

    Matt
    Its gone!

I'm going to stick my neck out and say Silkolene 10w50 will be what he says, as he has recommended for the last 50 almost identical questions

I think oilman just needs it in his Sig :rolleyes

Use Silkolene ProS 5w40 on a standard car
Use Silkolene ProS 10w50 on a modded car
