What engine oil would you recommend to 4.1 V8 Nissan engine from 92 year running stock tune with just exhaust and POD filter, pushing around 300hp. Mileage on the engine is around 100k.
Car is doing now less the 2k per year, but as it is swapped S-body it doesn't have easy life there is Shell 10w40 oil at the moment.

    Hi

    I would use a good 5w-40 synthetic.

    http://www.opieoils.co.uk/c-656-5w-40.aspx

Out of those, the best ones are the Fuchs/Silkolene Pro S, Millers CFS/CFS NT, Motul Sport/300V, Red Line and Gulf Competition.

    Cheers

    Hello, me back again.

Thought I may as well do brake fluid and clutch fluid in with everything. Standard S13 discs, Ferodo DS2500 pads and SPEC stage1 organic clutch. Daily use and planning on track use too, advice?

    Hi

The best fluids for the brakes and clutch are the Castrol SRF, Motul RBF660 and Gulf RF1000. The Motul RBF600, Gulf RF800, Millers 300 Plus and Fuchs Pro Race are close to those, but don't have quite as high boiling points. The next step down (in performance terms), but still an upgrade over standard are the Motul DOT 5.1, Millers 5.1, Pentosin Super DOT 4/Super DOT 4 Plus and Castrol React Performance. Any of the other DOT4 fluids we have are fine to use as a standard choice.

    Hola,

    What fluid you recommend for black top 180SX SR20DET 180SX SR20 (1996)?

The engine is stock and not been modify, I was thinking of Shell Helix Ultra 5W-40 Pure Plus Fully Synthetic Engine Oil or Mobil Super 3000 X1 5W-40 Engine Oil (formerly Mobil Synt S 5W-40).

Are those two oil's OK to to use for all year round, please advise?

    Thanks

    Hi

They are both fine to use, I would have no real preference out of them.

    Hi Ben

You need a 75w-90 for the gearbox and here are the ones we have.

    http://www.opieoils.co.uk/c-673-75w-90-gear-oil.aspx

If you want to go for the best, the Millers CRX 75w-90 NT, Gulf Competition, Motul Gear 300, Fuchs Race Synchro, Red Line MT90 and Amsoil Synthetic Manual Transmission and Transaxle Gear lube are ideal. The Castrol Universal/Universal Plus/Syntrans Multivehicle, Motul Motylgear and Fuchs Gear Syn are all decent alternatives.

    Cheers

    Hello,

Back for oil advices again. Standard 1996 SR20DET non VVT does see occasional track time but is also a daily. Been thinking is it worth going from 5w40 to a 10w50 or something similar for tracks? I'm scared of the oil thinning out and I'm about to fit a new sump to stop oil starvation as well so ideally like to cover the oil front completely.

    Hi

I would use a good 5w-40 as it will be the better option for a daily and also fine on track.

    Hi

A quality oil like the Pro S will hold it's viscosity better when hot, so no need to worry about the track use.

    Hi,

I was wondering what oil you would recommend for and 2000 nissan s15 running 400bhp ? Currently have Valvoline vr1 20W50 in it. Would you recommend staying with that or going with something else ? I is a road car but with the odd track day and in the process of fitting an oil cooler. Engine has just had a reburb from the ground up about 1000km ago.

    Hi Simon

The VR1 20w-50 is really good stuff, but not for your car. It gives very little cold start protection, so not a good option for a daily driver.

A 10w-50 is ideal for your car and these are the ones that we stock.

    https://www.opieoils.co.uk/c-659-10w-50.aspx

They are all really good oils to pick from and any of them will be fine for it.

    Cheers
