Mine always struggled to start with the battery in the boot. Got fed up with it so I moved the small micra style battery back into the engine bay and it's spot on now.
S14a. Can't smell any fuel leaks
I will give that a go. Thanks
Interesting. Was. It allowing air in or something?
I have this exact issue.
Seems to be when cruising on the motorway around 60mph and it's intermittent. Recently had the plugs out and given them a good clean but they were replaced recently...
I haven't, no
My clutch has started to creak really badly when the car is hot. The clutch was replaced around 5000 miles ago with an Exedy Organic.
It feels like something is 'dry' and gives the pedal a bit of...
Awesome! Thanks MadManMeasures.
So, does that mean I can increase how much the slave cylinder 'pushes' the release arm to effectively release the clutch more? I think with some fine adjustment...
How is the clutch pedal adjusted? Mine doesn't quite release the clutch properly and it's been like that for years, would be nice if it could be fixed
I've got the same issue too, tried resoldering once but that's actually made it worse.
Will pull it all apart again at some point and have another go, driving me mad
I must be really lucky, my gearbox is on 153,000 miles on my S14a and I don't get any whining at all
So have you had a multimeter on it yet? Everyone keeps giving you the same advice..
What does the damper do?
Turns out it was just vibrating against the heatshield. I've removed the heatshield and the rattle has gone, happy days.
Mine sounded pretty insane when it was straight through. Too loud if you wanted to give it the beans on a dual carriageway though as it would be heard from miles away. It's a pretty 'rough' sound as...
Not as loud as the Japspeed shotgun though i bet lol
Exhaust touching somewhere?
I picked up an 054 battery yesterday - it has the same tiny jap poles on it though with the sleeves to make them larger.
That's the same as the battery i've already got fitted, but the poles are...
Popped mine out last night, couldn't see anything obviously wrong with it so I guess the resister is knackered.
Picking up a known good spare tomorrow. If that one fails i'll probably just...
When the other battery was in the boot, if I switched the engine off I was always nervous about leaving the fans on or side lights, radio etc as I'm pretty sure it would have struggled to get going...
Well I fitted a smaller battery back under the bonnet and my god what an improvement, it starts SO much better now.
I was using 4AWG (i think) cable which is the pretty thick stuff.
Thanks for the suggestion, I don't think it'll pull it away from the chassis enough though for it to not vibrate.
Thanks for the link Mike, that's really useful. Mine has randomly stopped working on 1-3 and only works on #4 so i'll pop the card out tonight and have a look.
