yep so why should launching a clutch car be any different? your car will be faster if you can launch in 1st gear as you have more torque multiplication than 2nd, use the clutch to modulate the torque...
and hows that working out what sort of 60' times are you getting? why is it automatics launch so well compared to maunal trans cars? as i said if you can't afford to slip a twin disc setup swap it...
if your not going to slip the clutch how do you expect the car to go from a standstill to 40+mph as soon as you release the clutch pedal when the lights go green? manual cars hit the tires very hard...
here is how i see it, trying to launch in 2nd gear and not bog down is going to put a hell of a lot of heat into your clutch, your looking at probably 0-50mph from a standstill all on the clutch, if...

have you found out what caused your bearing to go after only 500 miles on a rebuilt engine? don't want to be doing it a third time...
