I had a vac leak that made mine do the same thing there mate. Check all your pipe work, no leaks and check the plenum for leaks ;)

I think, i may be wrong, but the main diff between them is one will allow you to fit it with abs in place and the other you have to move the abs unit. Other than that they prob do the same gas flow....

Overfulling, the wether last night prob made your car read the dence air and overfuel for it, black smoke = fuel ;)

What is you duty set to? also when it did the 1.6bar did it feel like it was pulling like a train or could it have been a pressure blip to the sensor?

Are the flat spots at the very same rev range each time you do it?

Could be your clutch on the way out as it starting to slip under load.
