Its the connector for your O2 sensor, so if you want your car to run as it should, yes you do need it. BUT it will run without it, will probably run mega rich though (i think) at lower revs.

Its phycological, if you dont have a plate, and their isnt a gaping great hole where one should be, police wont normally notice anything is wrong.... :D

Depends where you live obviously, ive had a 30 x 10 plate on the front of my last three cars and never heard a peep out of anyone :D

Fancy plates are great, although they more often than not need...
