Jon, that is correct, nothing has been changed. There is no bulb in the boot light, so not that. And I don't think there is a light in the glovebox on a S14a.... if there is, I've never noticed it!

If there's a lot of heat, that'd suggest that the brake was constantly dragging on the disc, however, you will only really notice a warped disc when you try to brake and will get a mega vibration...

IIRC it's where the oil pump fits to the block and causes a very slight weep. Common on most SR's.

It's got flat sides at the end - put them in a vice and twist the caliper carrier. It will easily work loose with the leverage and some upward force whilst twisting.
