I just saw a repeat of this program, and thought, wtf, thats my old car ..................then I looked on the internet to see if I could find out why it was on wrecks to riches, and found this post....
I understand that this problem is more than likely due to wear in the caliper frame, caliper sliders or the pads themselves. That is why it happens on some cars and not others. So when I wrote my...
Well that confirms what I said earlier........... Why does nobody listen to me!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This sounds very much like your brake pads moving within the caliper frame (which happens to many cars). I will try to explain:- There will be some slight play between the brake pads and the caliper...
You say you put '' a lot more oil in it '', are you sure you havnt put too much in? , it could be hydraulic lock !!!!!!!
If you are sure the clocks work, and you have plugged in the speed sensor wire connector ( located near the starter motor ), then it must be that the speed sensor on the manual box is faulty.
...
Are you sure you have installed the gear lever properly? There is a plastic 'cup' at the base of the gear lever that fits in to the hole in the selector shaft ( this can be a bit awkward to get it...
Nowt to do with the diff.... The wires going to the gearbox are the ones you are interested in. There should be two thick wires (possibly black and yellow) that go from the gearbox to a two pin...
On the auto models, the starter solenoid wire goes through the gearbox. This prevents you from starting the car, unless the gear selector is in the 'park' position. You need to short out the solenoid...
The one at the top side will be the reversing switch. The cylinder shaped one at the bottom is the speed sensor. There is a plug and socket connector on the wires from it located near the bell...
The valve lifters may have no oil in them, and if that is the case, I would expect the valves to be shut ( held by the valve springs ). Someone seemed to suggest above that if the valves are shut,...
From memory, I think there is a wiper contact that moves across some copper segments as the float moves up and down. Make sure this is actually in contact with the copper segments ( and not bent away...
Looks ok, the green one is on the A.A.C. as it should be. The yellow one, it can't be seen on your pic, location is hard to explain, but it is underneath the engine wiring harness (the harness that...
The connector plug on the AAC should be dark green, (make sure yours is), because it is possible to get it crossed over with a yellow one following having your engine loom disconnected. :D
When I got my s13, I thought the lock didnt work, then I realised, if you pull the key out just slightly, it turns. So try that (the lock might just be worn)
Brake fluid containers are usually 500mL. Two of them should be enough.
Could be faulty ignition switch, test it with a multimeter on the Ohms setting with the battery disconnected.
Yes, as long as you take your time allowing it to cool to a reasonable temperature before starting the next weld, it will be fine, the only prob with welding cast iron is it is prone to cracking,...
Yes, but the end of the cable outer sheath is riveted to the handbrake mounting bracket, so to get it off you have to drill the rivet out, (or break it off), then you have to undo the adjusting nut...
A couple of points to check. It is possible to get some connectors swapped over after engine work if you havnt carefully marked where they came from - these are:- injectors 2 and 3, (injector 2...
Don't know where you got your tires from, but if the garage you got them from don't know how to balance them, they may have not balanced them them properly second time either!!!!!
Make sure there...
As mentioned above, you could get another box, but how can you be sure that one is not worn out aswell !!!!!!!!!!
Your best bet is to give it to a gearbox specialist to replace the offending...
If it goes in to 1st and reverse at standstill with ease, and without grinding, then it's not the clutch. If it grinds the gears when doing a quick change (or at high revs) when on the move, the...
Are you sure it's not the exhaust rattling on the towing eye, if so, cut it off.
Well done with all the hard work mate, it's good to see that people are making an effort to keep these cars on the road.
Moral of the story - Never scrap an s13, they are the best cars on the road...
