I've heard between 250 & 280 bhp as the max it'll take which although a fair bit its tiny compared to what the cars capable of.
as spesh said a 100k bmw has alot of life left in it yet. The mechanic I took my 540 to for servicing has a 730 e34 that is over 200k and still going strong.
