i had to make a gearbox mount for mine as the guy who done the conversion just left the standard mount on with just two bolts.

they actually just made 4 cars, in the 4 colours, and swapped all the panals around between the the 4 cars, so theres actually 4 colour combos in them cars.

i had a mint black stock mk1 1.6gti till the engine gave trouble and i ripped it out and put a 2L 16v in its place. not so mint stock anymore, but it will be fun when its finished.

i have to agree, thats shamefull carry on in fairness. loads of it spotted round the midlands.
cheap tvr at the back, cheap austin/lola at the front.
offset is calculated from the mounting face, so as said, as long as the spokes are not 20cm thick or something rediculous, then theres no issues there.
