Your coolant will only freeze when the ambient temperature is at least a minimum of 0°C. A frost won't kill your engine as it's only water condensation chilled to freezing point by wind chill.

The TD lump is easy, just undo the engine mount and drop/raise it on a jack till you can get to it properly!!

The problem with doing a top-to-bottom rebuild with new cams is that the run-in procedures can very often lead to conflicting "must-do's" and leave you in a world of doubt!!
